There is no vaccine for Hep C, however transmission of the virus requires blood to blood contact.  You cannot get Hep C by sharing a cigarette.  You can, however, get lung cancer from smoking, along with a lot of other problems.

very good move ,quitting .!     u  will save alot of cash also . I was thinking about animals when you said "up to date on vacccines"   {just a little humor}        jdwithhcv I beleive is correct , there is no protection against hep c ,{other than safe practices with everyone } I think your in the clear w smoking .  Im wondering aloud `~ with all the recent hospital hep c infections ,and VA hep transmission .Im wondering if more people are worreid about such . there seems to be alot of newbies, worried about what we now now . but what must seem probable to some people .  but scares the heck outa them anyway .   If anyone gets what I mean .  sorry for ramble on ...      ,Its been a bad week

jdwithhcv said it well.  Only blood to blood.  No other bodily fluids unless they have blood in them.

No, you can not get hepatitis C in this way. Please, don't worry. My huisband had the disease for 25 years before he was diagnosed-we were married for 12 years, had a child, I used his toothbrush and razor several times by mistake, and I am negative. It has to be blood to blood contact-usually a shot or a stick of some kind.

No, you cant get it by being nice to your tenant, sharing coffee or cigs.. You have to have shared blood from a needle or a bad transfusion, like that. The literature says that you shouldnt share toothbrushes or razors, but that's because some people brush their teeth very hard and their gums bleed. and they get cuts from the blades on razors. I have had asymtomatic hep c for over 30 years. I never used drugs, no tattoos. No one in my family has it. I think I got it because I had a c-section when I gave birth.
