Can I Use Alcohol on ItchyBumps?and any other ?'s

I have bumps all up and down my arms and they are driving me crazy. I have tried gold bond, hydrocort and alcohol seems to be the only thing that gives me any kind of relief.
Is it safe to use rubbing alcohol on the skin?

Oldhippiechick67, give me a holler at ***@****. My son will be coming your way soon.

Does anyone have any other things for these bumps? Had them when I was pregnant, but didn't know they were connected to HCV.

Thanks everyone. I'd be nuts without you.

On week 6 of Pegasys, wbc 3.1. Better than with Peg-Intron.

Alcohol can be really drying.  Have you asked the doctor of rx strength hydrocorozone cream?  It is 2x stronger.  There are many other rx creams that may also help.  You may also want to try an antihistimine if it is an allergic reaction.  Good luck.  I'm on week 46 and still itch, only now when I scratch I tear up my skin 'cause it has gotten so thin.

epsom salts works perfect or sea water if you live near the beach.  It is a miracle cure and not expensive

I have the same bumps up and down my arms. I never had them before treatment so I'm sure they're a side effect. The sun only makes it worse. During the day I wear Neutrogena 30 SPF non-oil sunscreen, and after my evening shower I put Hydrocortisone on my arms. It really helps a lot, and I can tell when I forget to do it. Hope this helps.

I don't know if it will help or not but Sarna is a wonderful itch lotion. It's available at all drud stores that I've been to (alot) and even helped some when I was itching after liver failure.      Joni

I have been using "Neutrogena Soothing Relief Anti-Itch Moisturizer" and my skin has just about cleared up. It costs about $8 a bottle and can be purchased just about anywhere. I no longer have the red bumps or red dry patches I used to have. I used to look like one big rash but all clear for now. I am on week 30 Pegasys and Reb.

You could give Benydryl anti-itch cream a try.

I never really had the bumps on my arm but every other place.
I too did not have the ocean around me so I tried epson salt. I would put about 1/3 of the container in the tub and soak in it. Then I would take a shower to wash it off.  Then rub non prescription cortizone on the itchy spot. Mine was gone after 3 times. A gallon container costs approx. $2.50 and the cortisone about the same.  Good luck
