you do not need to click on "post a question" every time you have one. You can tag another question to an already existing one and click on post a comment within a thread to answer a specific comment/question or the tag your next question.  The forum allows for about 6to8 questions per day, but it gives a lot more allotment within the thread.  That is just basic stuff you might find useful until you get the hang of the forum, it is pretty easy to navigate compared to other boards.

I found a really interesting website today and I thought I'd pass along the address for anyone who's interested.  It's a search engine offered by the National Institutes for Health for the latest scientific research on dietary supplements.

Thanks,,,,Great Site!  I would like to thank you for listing your daily regimen awhile back as I copied it and now that I am finishing up tx,,,,I am ready to start some other healthy daily living.  I have purchased the Sam E and could not find the white tea anywhere in my town so found a spot here on net and ordered white teas and the red teas.  I already had the centrum daily vitamins.  I was kinda leery of taking anything while on tx and that is just me,,,,I know alot of people do and its great but I was wanting to wait.  Thanks again!

Honey--I think it's a great idea to be actively working on a post-tx strategy.  I hope the teas and supplements are helpful.  By the way, I get my teas at Wal-Mart and all my supplements (except for the Centrum Silver) at Vitacost.com

Sruffy and Chevy--it is a good site, isn't it?  It's amazing to see how much research has been conducted in the past fews years on dietary supplements.  Hopefully, that will lead to a better understanding of what works and what doesn't.

Have a great weekend!
Susan

Good one-thanks. I stayed mostly away from herbs while on tx cause I did'nt want to risk interactions that would compromise tx. Right now I wish to give my liver the best support I can.I am quite cautious about their use(herbs) and like to get as much info as possible. Frank

Yessir, I'm with you.  I research like a fiend before I throw anything down my gullet.  And over the years I tend to use just a small number of brands out there because I know of the personal reputations of the principals involved. BTW,  I have a pretty good herbal library at home, so just let me know if I can help in any way with specific questions.

I am lucky to ;have a Puritan's Pride factory store by work and that is usually where I get all my supplements, when they have the buy one get two sale, my favorite.  They also sell discounted items from other brands and I found a supplement called Thyrosmart that I took to protect my thyroid during Tx.
I get the Sam-e when is on sale BOGO. Is too expensive otherwise.
Puritan's carry a huge selection of supps and foods and their supps are usually standardized.
I hate tea, so I don't see myself adding that to my plan, but supplements is another thing.  When I read Adelle Davis' books and later "Back to Eden" by Jethro Kloss, I became involved with planning a healthier living. That and living in a comune. This thinking aided my then toddler with controlling her ear infections and bronchitis, and later aided me in healing a persistent nail fungus.  I  just don't promote my regimen, because what works for me, might not work for the next person.
The reccomendations for dietary intake of nutrients is not specific enough, I feel that it should be customized to an individual based on their medical condition and familial hx of disorders.
stay healty, all

BTW: I heard from Amerabrit, and she had some business events that kept her busy,  she was done with tx on New Year's Eve.

First of all,  where the heck are my manners?  SUSAN, that's a great site you posted for everyone.   Thanks for being on the job.

And here's one more site concerned with rating supplement purity:
http://www.consumerlab.com.

It's basically a subscription-only service, but it's probably worth it in the long run.  (Haven't taken my own advice yet, however!)  I notice that they just issued a new report with ratings of milk thistle products.  But here's where it gets squirrely:  they're rating everything according to the actual vs. the advertised silymarin percentage, though the latest  research shows that silibin content is more important.   Man, you can spend every waking minute staying up on this stuff.  Wearying!

And last but not least -- dear CHEV -- I sometimes wonder what I would have accomplished by now if I hadn't had to "specialize" so heavily in liver disease management.  So the strokes mean a lot, especially with the mid-tx doldrums setting in.  I'm going to think awhile about  your question before answering.  Basically, I do subscribe to the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" school of thought, and lady, you seem to be coming back quite strong on your own.   I can't tell you how much I appreciate that push from behind.

Thanks Califia, I've got quite a few herb books of my own-my interest goes way back to my druggy days.I'm currently using milk thistle/astragalus/multi vit w/o iron/vit C and zinc.Trying to eat liver healthy and hope to start juicing when I can afford a juicer.

Chevy, I'll see doc next friday and discuss options-I expect he will suggest biopsy-if he does'nt I will. I won't treat further until I know the extent of damage. It was a mistake to treat without biopsy eventhough I've had hcv 30 years(approx) and friends who used needles with me have died from hcv.I'm still getting my head straight from tx. You must know I wish you well with your PCR.Live well.

It takes a very big person to post a public apology.  I admire such integrity and accept your apology without reservation.  Let's start over.
