Great moniker, sir!  This is an interesting question you raise.  I have been very curious about this myself and have gone so far as to contact the office of Robert Cathcart, MD, in Palo Alto, California, who has made many public claims over the years about the benefits of  high-dosage IV Vitamin C for chronic viral infections.   However, it disturbs me greatly that the information on his website is so disorganized; that his many claims are unsubstantiated, and that the treatments themselves are so bloody expensive.   (Well, no surprise there.)    I spoke with his nurse in April as I was idly wondering about ways in which I could radically drop my viral load before starting treatment w/ the combo.   At that time she had no written information to send, was unwilling to let me speak with any of Cathcart's patients, and told me flatly that IV abscorbate was appropriate for reducing the duration of acute HCV infections, but was not recommended for managing chronic infections.    Alrighty then!

I pass this on for what it's worth...

Far be it from me to beg a question, so here goes.   We all know that in spite of Linus Pauling's Nobel Prize, he has been treated as a quack by the medical establishment for his championing of Vitamin C, so the disinterest of the medical establishment in this area is not necessarily proof one way or the other.  You can't exactly patent the stuff, there isn't money to be made here, and therapeutic applications remain largely unexplored.    However, it does speak volumes to me that in all my years exchanging information with people about chronic viral management, I have never met anyone who claimed benefit from this mythic therapy.  When stuff works, there is buzz, lots of buzz.   Patients hear about it, doctors hear about it...the word gets out.   In this area, however, there is crashing silence.

While our friend is regaining his composure,  I just want to join Ms. Chev in recommending lots of clean living, plenty of anti-oxidants,  and unrelenting silliness as solid approaches to living with this @#&% bug.   And the Reverend is right:  if you want to go for a complete cure, interferon is the only way to do it.

just a heads up-- get your iron and feritin checked before taking any vit c.

(if you have a high iron prob your doc will have you avoid vit c)
(vit c makes you absorb more iron--- high iron feeds the virus)

if you don't have a high iron prob, do what you want.

Actually,  I'd be honored to join Sam in the Royal Society of Jackasses, myself.  And you were right -- either a cure cures, or it doesn't.  (But watch the baloney remarks around Lou.  He's got this serious thing for cows.)

Well it is believed in Europe in some University hospitals that 2g Vit C + 1,5g Vit E + Sillymarine per day can slow or even reduce liver fibrosis. The most important seems to be Vit E.

I just want to state right here right now that the recent charges brought against me are categorically false. I have never worn a Little Bo Peep outfit!.............in Public. I was not anywhere near that farm that day and I have no idea how those poor defensless (but mighty cute) sheep ended up in those Spiked heels

In fact, massive amt's of vit c can be detriminatal to those w/troblems w/uric acid-RA, gout, puritiis, etc.  Very common prob's w/hep c.  Too much for the liver, spleen and kidneys to handle all @once.  All vits should be taken in multiple small dosages thru out the day-not one big massive dosage once a day.  The tx is hard on the kidneys and massive amts of vit c are also hard on the kidneys.  Don't screw up your kidneys while healing your liver.

I tried high dose IV vitamin C in the late 80's.  It was very expensive, time consuming, and did NOT work.  I have not tried sex with cows, so I can't say whether that is a cure or not.

I dont think it will help. Probably Vitamin E does. Anyone knows?? Does eating carrot (or its juice) helps in repairing the damaged liver cells? Have heard that Beta-carotene in carrots helps in blocking the liver becoming hard. Can someone enlighten me??

supplying any antioxidant to your system should be of benefit and beta carotene is a precursor of vit a, a known antioxidant.
welcome.

There are lot of opinions on IV C to fight hepatitis C here.. but do anyone really know what they are talking about? I think NOT!

Well, I do! I've been using 50g of C IV 2 times a day now for 6 weeks. I feel good, but the results of my blood tests are not yet finished. I post the results the results in about a week. So stay tuned,

Halvdan

I am only interested  in the results of your viral load...the only thing that can tell if the virus is actually gone. liver enzymes fluctuate and can't tell if hep c is left for good.
