Can MORE Prozac Keep Me From Losing My Job?

Can MORE Prozac Keep Me From Losing My Job?

Hi all! Still trying to get help with affording treatment. Meanwhile, the "bad days"- ones where it feels as if all of my energy had been lipo-suctioned out of my body- have been outweighing the "good days" for quite a while now. Meaning that for the past few months I haven't even been able to even HALF-way consistently work the only-30 hours a week I'm scheduled for at work.

So last week, my store manager told me he's putting me on Medical Leave Of Absence. I can't blame him. He needs me to be there regularly as he IS running a business. Bless his heart for NOT firing me, and not demoting me to LESS than 28 hours, which would then give me a PART-TIME status and I'd lose my insurance benefits!
However, I simply CAN'T AFFORD NOT to work. I'm now married with 2 kids, & while my husband's a hard worker, we HAVE to have the both of us working.
I read here where some of you are now taking Ritalin to help with the fatigue. So I asked my doctor about that. She's won't perscribe it for me at this time.
Instead, today she boosted my Prozac dosage from 20mg per day to 40.  She and my boss and I came to an agreement: I'm going BACK to work on a 2-week trial basis...That's to give the Prozac time to work in my system, and to see if THAT will help me fight the fatigue so's I can keep on working.
I guess if it DOESN'T pan out in that 2 week period, then I'll HAVE to take a Medical Leave....
Do any of you have any opinions on whether or not the increased dosage of Prozac might help?

There is a new drug on the market called provigil for alertness. It doesnt have a large side effect profile.
By the way your boss cant put you on a medical leave. only a health care provider can.

the real issue is whether you can be accommodated. If you can then I believe by ADA you must be. Sounds like your boss is OK though.

Mine were not.

Sorry for your problems, jackie.

Fortunately for me, I'm now on early DB retirement.  i don't know how I could have continued TX while working.

I took prozac for 5 months.  it helped a lot with anxiety, riba-rage, etc. but didn't do a thing for the fatigue.

I was on 20mg.  I recently cut down to 10, then 5 and I haven't taken a dose the past 2 weeks.

if anything, i have to tell you that in retrospect the prozac seems to have increased my fatigue as i don't feel as wiped out now.  I don't even need the daily afternoon naps anymore.

Everyone reacts differently to med.  Prozac was GREAT for calming me down.  But it adversely affected my mental alertness, another thing I've realized since going off it.

Good luck,

wyntre
