Can taking antibioctics for a bacterial infection lower chances of svr

Hello Team,
I am on week 35 of 48 and so far things are going well.  Started a new more challenging job two weeks ago and am hanging in there.
I have a infection below my knee cap from a cut that would not heal and since I have been icthing all over I got it infected And now it is sore as hell and my leg is swollen from the knee thru my calf.
My general Dr. prescribed two antibioctics Doxycycline and Keflex. I called my Gastro with concerns about the effects of the antibiotics to me achieving svr and he said not to worry. Any input would be appreciated.
My best to all Tony !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Like your gastro said, not to worry. At least that's what my hepatologist told me as I consumed 4-5 months worth of antibiotics during treatment for one infection or another, and indeed did achieve SVR. Many here have also reported taking antibioitics during treatment with their doctor's blessing. Glad to see you're on the home stretch and doing otherwise well.

All the best,

-- Jim

even if it did, which no one knows for sure, what choice do you have?

35 out of 48 and a new job. You certainly know how to keep things interesting. I have read others questions about the antibiotics and I don't understand how it could compomise your tx. Shows how little I know, I wouldn't have thought to ask. How are you doing so far in responding to tx? Haven't heard anything from you in a while, take care

I went through this when on tx and I was told that there were certain antibiotics which might be more effective on tx.  Since your Gastro did not see a problem with those prescribed for you, don't sweat it.

If Gastro doc would object, then you might want to find out a viable alternative and notify the prescribing doc of the suggested change.

Tony - you have to do what you have to do to stay alive and healthy during treatment you know?  If you need the antibiotics you have to take them. It would make no sense to be on the road to SVR but die of an infection.

That is how I try to think about it to cool my jets when I start wondering too hard.

35 out of 48...you're almost there!   i had many different infections on tx, and took many different anti-biotics...i did 48wks, am 9mo post and still clear....anti-biotics did not harm my treatment or potential to achieve svr....good luck to you...michelle
