Can tx have an impact on thyroid?

Hi everyone,
Doing tx second time around after having relapsed and now my  T.S.H. level is very high - can interferon/ribavirine have an effect on the thyroid?

Yes at first mine went to 0.0 and then a few weeks later flip flopped as is usual to 6.2 - from hyper to hypo.  I now take .88mcg of Synthroid daily to keep my TSH right at 2 where it should be.

Sometimes it resolves after treatment and other times does not. I was on treatment about 48 weeks after I was diagnosed so I didn't really have a chance (tx'd 72 weeks was  dx'd at about week 20 hyper 24 hypo something like that).

Good luck I hope it clears up for you - you should go to an ENDO doc right away though hyper can be extremely dangerous.

as yet im still waiting for my own tx to start,first i was diagnosed with  H C V ,then short time after  i was informed i have a  underactive thyroid ,now it seems ive got a enlarged spleen ,does it get any worse i dont know,my doc is trying to get my thyroid in order before he starts me on tx

Just had more confusing results - my TSH is still climbing, while T3 and T4 are normal- the antibodies are quite high as well -antiTPO 855 and anti TG 158 what could that mean???
I guess that would be hypo - but is it a sign of an auto-immune sickness?
