Canadian pharmacies.... good or bad?

by Teres, Feb 15, 2004 12:00AM
I sometimes wonder if it's a conspiracy among the doctors, pharmacies and insurance companies to keep us in the dark and to keep our money amongst themselves. The pharmacy I use for Tx was recommended by my doctor's office, and they never gave me an opportunity to search out my options. I now find that finding the money to pay for my Peg-Intron. The copay on the Riba is do-able, but finding over $400 per month can be difficult at times.

I've been thinking about using a Canadian company to get my Tx, but am not sure if Blue Cross will cover these things. There's a business in my neighborhood that advertises no its front window that it gets its meds from Canada. But, there are all these news reports that what you get from Canada (and mail order) are not always as good as what you get from a "legitimate" pharmacy.

I'm so-o-o-o-o confused!

Can anyone recommend a good Canadian company that ships to the U.S.? Once I have the name of the company, I can find out if my insurance will cover it and weigh the cost against what I'm paying now.

Thanks.

This is my opinion only and it is based on the information that I have now.
There is not a single instance where someone went to a Candian pharmacy and was harmed. I believe the scare tactics are to increase profits for the big drug companies. Both my father and father-in-law get some of their medications from Canada and have had no problems. You can do a search under google and probably get lots of names of companies. The one I am familiar with is www.canadadrugs.com.
It think it is a crime in this country when some people have to choose between eating or taking their medications. I live in Florida and work with the elderly and have seen a number of people in this predicament.
Just my 2 cents,
Barb
