Certain Meds and the Liver

by billstrong1969, Sep 23, 2007 02:21PM
I want to ask my pschiatrist for an anti-anxiety med to take during the TX phase such as Adivan.  What do you guys know about the safety of anti-anxiety medications suck as Adivan, Valium, or Xanax on the liver?  Also how safe is taking a painkiller such as Vicodin (Tylenol based) or Vicoprophen (Ibuprophen based) on the liver?  I've heard that certain drugs are far safer than others.  Especially to avoid excess use of Tylenol.  What are you guys' thoughts?

I haven't found that I needed anxiety meds on treatment.  I'm 20 weeks in and getting through it.  Some weeks are better than others but all in all it's doable, it just takes too long. Vicodin is not good for the liver. Extra strength tylinol(500mg) is the pain reliever of tx choice.  Prozac is said to be hard on the liver but it has saved my ***.

My AST/ALT have dropped from 300/200 to 30/27 with clearance at 8 weeks.  Tx isn't as bad as I thought it would be, but it's a challenge.  Wishing you an easy ride.
