Changes in SX 37 weeks in, skin rash problems.

hello everyone, haven't been here in awhile...to be honest it was becoming somewhat discouraging. stopped in recently and see people bickering like children. hope TX is doing good for those on it.

anyhow a number of SX have diminished which is nice but i'm now having some skin irritation and foot pain issues. i've had and expected injection site irritation but it hasn't been severe. now on my left thigh i have a patch about the size of the palm of your hand that is causing problems. it's irritated, itchy as all getout, red and somewhat swollen. i haven't used this site for over a month and it's not getting any better. i'm also starting to experience similar issues on my lower right shin. im experiencing some problems with my feet as well with soreness in the toe joint/ball area of my feet. when this cropped up in my right foot i wasn't surprised because i had issues with it in the past however i'm also having problems with my left foot. went to foot & ankle, first thing they wanted to do was get out the steriods and i told them NO. anyone have similar problems with the feet (could be TX related?)? it's kind of a drag as i've been feeling a good bit better and have been a lot more productive and optimistic. had a viral load done last week (LOD >50) and came back ND. dr said he'll order the fine test at TX completion and 6 months thereafter.

11 weeks left i can see the end YAA-HOO...with any luck i'll achive SVR with no lasting SX either from the disease or TX

best of luck to everyone.

almost there! you can see the end of the tunnel!
have you discussed these problems with your dr yet? It might be a good idea to get his opinion at the next consult or a referral to a neurologist or rheumatologist just to rule things out.
best to you

I do know what you mean about bickering children...GOD it gets tiring but MH is very good about keeping on top of it and they really help us straighten it out.  Things have been marvelously quiet lately so I hope that you post more and come around.  This place is a life saver but it's also a "room" full of a lot of tired, frustrated, sick people and sometimes...it can get out of hand. We are all guilty of Ribarage it seems.

anyways - skin irritation is something I know a lot about. I've found that REALLY moisturizing with a GOOD lotion (ie: Triple Action Anti Itch Gold Bond in the green bottle with the red cap) can help so VERY MUCH.  It's really helped a lot of us - but you have to remember to keep putting it on AFTER your skin problems have cleared up or it will come back.

I have found that a few of my RIBA bumps have gotten horribly swollen and bruised looking over time - honestly it just took abut a month to get them to go away as I'd let them get way too advanced. I think honestly it's from where my underwear was rubbing on my hip - it must have infected them of something.

If I had been smart I would have put a bandaid on that area but I didn't think of it until it started to heal up.

I hope that something works for you God knows how annoying it is.

And congrats on the 11 weeks YAHOOO to you!

Check with your doctor, but your foot pain might be plantars fascitis (not sure if that is spelled right) and it can be caused by inflamation.  Read up on it and see if your symptoms mimic it.  It tends to hurt worse in the morning and in the evening after you prop your feet up.  I think you can ice it and stretch your feet out on a ramp to relieve it.  My boyfriend has it.

thanks everybody,

i looked into that Plantar Fasciitis and don't think that's it as my issues are in the toe joint area. i'm just hoping it's been aggravated by TX (the dr thought it "could" be from the interferon) and will subside when i'm finished. i can live with the skin issues but they are problematic and certainly not getting any better. i pointed out the one bad spot to the dr last monday and he didn't seem very concerned (which is nothing new). i've really been feeling a good bit better and stopped taking the AD's (kinda by accident). i also missed a couple of epogen (procrit) injections and as with the AD's figured if i was felling better the less stuff i'm ingesting the better. however my last HG came back 9.2 so i've had to start the epogen back up. a few months ago i had considered stopping TX due to SX (both during and potentially post TX) as well as the less then stellar success rate among 1B's but barring anything unforseen it should be an easy last quarter. with any luck i'll be ND from here on out and can be one of the success stories. i'm starting back to work wednesday so hopefully in a few months this will all be in the rearview.

as for the bickering ect. i just don't understand it. i mean if you've ended up on this board it's certainly for greater issues. because you share a common and very unpleasant disease which should make everyone pull together, pool their strength, support and knowledge with the common goal of beating this virus.

again best of luck to everyone...keep the faith

Sorry you're having those troubles. Hopefully it's just a brief bump in the road.

I had something similar a few weeks ago. I don't know that I'd have called it swollen, but definitely raised, itchy, red, hot, bumpy, etc. Mostly on my left hip, and also both butt cheeks.

I used alot of moisurizer, and also a couple applications of Clobex, a steroid ointment. It went away as fast as it appeared. Who knows what, why, or how?

Good luck. Hope something works for you.
