I forgot, I have also done kidney cleanses and the gallbladder cleanse.
I used to have the onset of kidney stones and did a special herbal cleanse in Indonesia. It was done with monitoring at the lab etc. Two brothers who inherited their fathers herbal recipes and studies in the US. They had lots of kidney stones in their practice. Amazing what people were able to pee out, instead of getting operated for the stones. I didn't release stones, but my urine was clouded from the calcification and calcium was detectable on the lab reports. It became clearer and clearer until my labs were normal.
He also helped my ex husband with his liver. it was quite messed up about 10 years before I met him from too much use of alcohol. These guys practically saved his life at the time.
Hey stop my mom just saw him downtown the other day and was all excited........... ;)
Who was excited, him or her? If him we might know why...

The lemon-olive oil cleanse is a liver-gall bladder cleanse. I expells gallstones and bile.
The psyllium and bentonite clay are colon-GI tract cleanses. They remove obstructions from the GI tract.
The juicing/raw food diets are internal cleanses. Those are the ones that can really make a difference. The ****** diet is a diet that is liver-centered; basically a macrobiotic diet with regular fresh juice throughout the day. A common reaction to that diet is detox reactions, or herxeimer (sp?) reactions. They are flu-like symptoms that are part of the cleansing process. They happen when the body is detoxing, but the liver backs up - it does not dump bile fast enough and the toxins back up into the blood stream to create the flu-like symptoms. To alleviate those reactions the ****** people use coffee enemas. They are the only thing I have found to stop a detox reaction. The coffee goes from the colon straight to the liver via the hepatic portal vein and the caffeine causes the gall bladder and liver to dump bile. Then the liver is free to clean up the blood and the detox reaction lifts.
This type of prolonged diet can help eliminate steatosis (very low-fat) and really deep cleanse the tissues. I hope that helps.
Best regards,
Mike H
You apparently confuse me with Richard Gere...

I've been on some real hard core cleanses, I don't dare recommend people who have hep c to go on, unless they consult with their doctor.
I didn't know I had hep c. I did 15 days of the 'lemonade diet' and have done the salt water cleanse (not recommended for people with kidney trouble) several times.
I have not really tried any commercial stuff, except once. That is almost 10 years ago and I can't remember what it was. It was mainly something you do with a special raw food and then juicing diet for 14 days. I remember having LOADS of different veggies and fruit. I juiced them and had to take some herbs with them. The whole thing was quite complicated, but I felt really good, had a lot of energy and my skin became super clean and radiant. There was psyllium husk and bentonite clay involved.
I regularly drink a mixture of psyllium husk and bentonite clay. In the morning on an empty stomach and at night before sleeping. It helps bowel movement and encapsulates toxins, helping clean and scrape debris from the intestinal walls. Just be sure not to take any meds or vitamins within 1 hour before or after, as they would be absorbed and expelled with the husk.
One can do simple things like that, which are more subtle, instead of doing the big cleanses.
Most herbal cleanses I know about are helpful and easy to use. But really, you will need to research the herbs, as they could do more good than bad to the liver.
But as said, I usually go for the more drastic stuff. That's just me... But then again I didn't know I had hep c at the time.
Once I reach SVR, I will do them again. My stage is F 0-1 , so I don't have to worry about liver damage.
You apparently confuse me with Richard Gere...
Or possibly that Led Zepplin groupie..
I'm not any sort of expert in the matters of colon cleanses, except as it applies to colonoscopy prep. I' have wondered about whole kernal corn, though. But, I digress.
In prior threads on this topic people who have their heads around this topic have discussed that all matter of flora (maybe fauna too) are cleased in the process and that at leaset the flora part in the plumbing is fairly important. I'll leave it to Goofy to discuss the fauna part.
Hi Marcia,
Did you find a particular colon cleanse kit that you liked? Did you ever try the CleanseSmart?
Take a look at the PDF you linked. In particular, the warning.
I think it's important for your mom to know how healthy her liver is before attempting any cleanses. I've tried a colon cleanse with no problems in the past, but liver cleanses tend to be less gentle...and if her liver is challenged, she may more run into problems.
My personal opinion is to stay away from any product that has a long list of ingredients unless you have the time to look up each one. In the case of liver health, more is NOT better. More importantly is to watch what goes "in" with a liver friendly diet for a positive impact on the whole body.
My best to you and your Mom.......Pam
I personally must disagree...
I have done all kinds of different colon cleansings and found them beneficial. I felt better and healthier after doing them. Of course they will not rid you of the hep c. But I don't think that that was your point of doing it anyway.
The most important is to check that there are no herbs used in the cleanse which could harm the liver. So you need to look up every herb in the mixture.
I have always been interested in herbal stuff, alternative medicine etc.
But I have also always been reasonable with it. One needs to know when one needs to turn to allopathic/conventional medicine.
So for treating Hep C and to eradicate the virus obviously one should go through conventional treatment.
But if you want to feel better and overall be healthier, I don't see anything negative about doing cleanses, eating a healthy diet and doing moderate exercise.
Please make sure that your liver are able to tolerate those herbs/med.
If colon cleansing was beneficial, why wouldn’t our doctors order them?
Bill
No on all counts I can't see how it could be beneficial in any way and most of these things are just gimmicks to get your $$$$$ as quickly as they can. Google it up and you will find that you should save those dollars and invest instead in eating right and exercising. That will do the trick.
Doing a cleanse will not benefit anyone with hepC in anyway. You will still have hepc and still have liver damage and still have the virus. Save your money - or send it to me instead it will do just as much good...maybe more! ;)
