Coconut ?

I found this article ( http://www.healthy-oil-planet.com/lauric-acid.html ) how coconuts are extremely good for its antiviral properties. It's " suppose " to help with hep c as well. I've already been eating " young coconuts ", which the milk is sooo good. Has anybody tried the properties of this nut and had results?

Lauric acid from coconut kind is supposed to "melt" the fatty acid "envelope" of envelope viruses, thereby exposing the virions to greater recognition by the immune system. However, without eradicating the virus, using antiviral botanicals to depress viral load seems to have limited value as an overall strategy (VL does not correlate with fibrosis staging). These saturated fats have had a bad rap for a long time however; the evidence shows that saturated fats from coconut actually increase fat burning as well as bringing other healthy benefits to the table. I like to drink coconut milk for hydration, it seems to stay in the body longer than water.

I do know that my vets have recommended virgin coconut oil due to its anti-viral and anti- protazoan properties for my dogs with coccidia and other stomach ailments, knocks it right out.  It also regulates the thyroid, I've spoken to a rescue center about this and she has gotten several dogs off of thyroid meds with this successfully.  It won't hurt you (unless you have a coconut allergy), so why the hell not try it.  People do cook with it (about a tablespoon a day) and it can be bought at many large grocery stores in the oil aisle.  It's in a tub or jar as it looks more like vaseline than olive oil.  Some stores may have it in the organic section.  Worst  case scenario I guess is that it keeps some stomach bugs at bay and may keep your thyroid in check...lol...but who knows what it does to Hep C.

I use some coconut oil daily for Alzheimer's prevention.  My mother died of that illness.
While it probably does have some antiviral and antimicrobial effects, I don't expect it will make much difference with Hepatitis.

The lauric acid seems to be beneficial for lungs at it is in the coating.  The medium chain triglycerides are a pretty safe form of fat and seem to reduce brain shrinkage from normal aging in healthy people.  Do a google search on "Mary Newport coconut oil" for some interesting information.
