Colon cleansing

I'm on treatment for hep c and I've been thinking about doing a colon cleansing.  A lot of germs and toxins live in our colons and I thought this might be a good time to flush them out along with the Hep c.

Is this safe for me right now?  Has anybody else done it?  How does colon cleansing affect the liver?

I plan on talking to my doctor first but I was hoping some of you might shed some light on the subject.

Gene; sorry to hear the plant closed Gene- I guess I'm in the same boat- Relapsed and waiting to get back on the rat poison; take good care and stay in touch.

Fish- Ewwww; my daughter works as a vet tech here in town- I'm somewhat familiar with that technique. Although I might be a tad closer geographicaly, your expertise trumps geography by a long shot. Let me know how everything came out, Bill

Personally, I wouldn't do anything of this nature without first discussing with Goofy and Can Do Man.

DR Goofy and DR can do man, if you please.

I have heard of such cleansings, and they might be a bit much to do while on tx.
this one from the Mayo clinic
http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/colon-cleansing/AN00065

if you do not have frequent constipation, you do not have anything lurking in there, our intestines have cilia that move things out and away.  unless there are pockets in the colon (you can have a colonoscopy to find out), nothing is grabbing and holding on within. a normal colon, with normal function does not need the magic cleansing.
if you have colon problems, went through diagnostic tests to rule out serious conditions, and fiber alone does not make things to regularly move out, maybe consider it.  unless you swallowed weird stuff that can't come out by itself, well, you get the pic.

I think colon cleansing is just a method used only before a surgical procedure...or for extreme impacted bowels which can be deadly. I wouldn't do it unless the Dr. prescribes it. I think it depletes your body of needed electrolytes and such. Don't sound like a good thing to me. I'd call your nurse.

Yup. They got their degrees alright when it comes to the down netherland. The third degree.

Has any noticed, that the ads to the right of each thread apparently are triggered by key words in the title. Like a lot of colon cleansing ads on the right part of the screen and if you go down to the "vaginal bleeding thread" a lot of vaginal ads :) It's probably been like this for ten years but just wanted you to know how observant I am since I just noticed it today.

I ended my treatment in the hospital with really big problems down there. stop, go, stuck, running and a lot of other ajectives that include bleeding. I think the treatment drugs are really hard on the sensitive cells that line our mouths throat, stomach and intestine. Might not be the best time to try that but colon cleanses are suppose to be great for lowering txins!

They are not on my screen right now. I'm guessing they rotate them on and off. But keep looking and do report back. We do not want you to be deprieved of the American Way :) Yes, I'm serious and I do see the ads. They are on the right. Hopefully, others see them as well. If not, I guess it's time to have a long discussion with my shrink.

OK. Maybe this helps. I don't see the ads now when I'm composing. I also don't see them on the main screen where you can scroll down and look at all the threads. Where the ads appear is when you click on a particular thread heading so you can read the individual posts. The ads then (usually a second or two delay) appear on the right at the top. Are you on a fast cable line? If not, maybe you might have to wait a minute or two for the ads to pop on as they probably come from a different server.

they are real and they have not been there for10yrs.  they are triggered by key words, even within the thread if another topic becomes prominent. MH started them a couple of yrs back, when many here did not seem enthusiastic about paying a minimal yrly fee to be here. They have to support the site somehow.  I only donated once in my 3 yrs here.
so, jm, cancel the appt at the cuckoo's nest.

OK. Cancelled. But I believe the ads did disappear for a period of time recently (I've actually noticed them earlier just didn't realize they were tripped by key words) and were replaced by a big banner ad on the bottom of the page. I think it was Tylenol PM or something like that. Do you remember that?

Alady: I don't see any ads in here ever.

Well, since you don't see them, and Cuteus and I see them, I can only come to two conclusions. Either you can't see them because it's some sort of undocumented tx side effect, or Cuteus and myself do see them because it's some sort or post tx undocumented side effect. If the latter, I hope it's not permanent cause maybe it will spread and we'll start seeing ads EVERYWHERE.

don't remember the banner, but the ads are by google, and we can click to advertise at the end of the ads column.  maybe it is blocked by some folks's firewall or something?

Giving this more though, the second theory seems to hold more water and also supports my position that the longer you treat the more post treatment sides. I beleive Cuteus treated 72 weeks and I treated 54 weeks and we both see the miraged ads. Chevy on the other hand, I think only treated 24 weeks and she doesn't see any ads. I've alerted double dose because he's doing independent research on post treatment side effects and this certainly is something he might want to explore further.

I just clicked on the advertise on this site link and it offers a space on this thread only! interesting technology. we do get a lot of snake oil sales there too, unfortunately.  I wonder how the colon cleansing people find out or are squeezed in as soon as the thread starts?  are they alerted or do they have an account with google that automatically yields a space for them without MH proofreading?

Jim-- if your theory holds true, someone should alert Susan400- she'll be able to see them in her sleep.

Ah, yes, the women's health thread. Let's see, the lady asks: "
My question what is causing the bleeding could it be
per-menapause or mabye cortistone. I am worried sick about it."
-----
You know I would also be worried sick if my vagina started bleeding cause the last time I looked I don't have one. But seriously, this is America and Vagina's have a right to bleed if they want to. I mean it seems to happen all the time -- doesn't it men -- especially when you happen to meet you want to know better.
