Confused & uninformed

I know absolutely nothing about the blood tests or counts that go along with this virus. When first diagnosed my titer count was 48.9. But what does that mean? Is it good, bad,or somewhere in between? My ALT level was 129 and ALS level was 80. No one bothered to explain what those meant. Anyone with more info who is willing to share it, I would much appreciate it.

I had to research myself:

SGPT (Serum Glutamic-Pyruvic Transaminase - ALT)
Serum Glutamic Pyruvic Transaminase or ALT is an enzyme found primarily in the liver but also to a lesser degree, the heart and other tissues. It is useful in diagnosing liver function more so than SGOT levels. Decreased SGPT in combination with increased cholesterol levels is seen in cases of a congested liver. We also see increased levels in mononucleosis, alcoholism, liver damage, kidney infection, chemical pollutants or myocardial infarction.

Normal Adult Range: 0 - 48 U/L
Optimal Adult Reading: 24

your ALT is High.

Not Sure about ALS??? Typo?

Sorry.  I was incorrect it is an AST level which is 89. I am trying to get insurance, then I will be able to go to a hepatologist . I'm not sure about the typo yet. I will do some research. Thanks for your info.

Your Alt is definitely elevated and that shows something is going on in the liver but I have seen lots higher.  You are doing all the right things to line up some insurance and then see a hepatologist.  This is a great place to get lots of your questions answered...

Were you diagnosed with B or C? Without insurance it is safe to assume you have not had a Biopsy yet, which will tell you the most important issue. TRY NOT TO PANIC. It’s the not knowing that part that is the worst. We were all once where you are at now (Scared). You came to the right place and YOU WILL MAKE IT THROUGH THIS
