Coughing and Vomiting as side effect

My dad's being treated for Hep C and B. He coughs all day and night. Doesn't get any sleep.
He also can't eat. He feels sick and throws up quite often.
He also has a bad fever.

Does anybody know anything that will help him? Any suggestions - medical or food wise? Is this normal?

I was also going to suggest the hard candy.  As far as the vomitting, have him talk to his doc.  My doc gave my Phenegran for my nausea.  However, I do understand that people that have progressed to cirrhosis cannot take Phenegran.  There are other anti-nausea drugs available.
