Cruising along on Harvoni!

Starting on week 9 tomorrow. My last bottle! My doctor and I decided to cut from 24 weeks to 12 since I'm responding well. Side effects have been mild and come and go. I feel good now. I hope the insurance company will be happy to save $90,000. :) BTW, 1a, 4.1 fibroscan, tx exp, 8 million initial VL. Just an update for others. Harvoni is easy.

Dear Carl , Congratulations and i think you and the doc made the right choice with the 12 week tx period .

your fibroscan score is perfect and 12 weeks is what is suggested by gilead .

my only question would be ( since u have not specified above )  what was your vl report at week 4 !!

i would not worry about anything if u were clear or very low on the week 4 vl load test -:)  , finish your last bottle of Harvoni and get on  with a healthy and happy life ahead .

my best wishes and congrats once again .

Great news!  I am doing 24 weeks of Harvoni as a 2-time non responder with Stage 3 Fibrosis.  I just took pill #7 this morning.  Side effects are pretty mild - getting tired and my sleep is off but the hepatology nurse said these will slow down as I adjust to the meds.  Those are some giant pills to swallow!

Thanks for the encouragement everyone. My Fibroscan of 4.1 indicates a completely normal liver! The indicated regimen for me is 12 weeks; I fought for 24 weeks because I was concerned with the initial high VL. Since I was UND at 4 weeks we are going with the 12 weeks. Time will tell if that was a mistake or not but I feel pretty good about this. I'll be around but probably won't have an update on my case until 12 weeks EOT.

If you ever relasped on tx I would do the 24 weeks. Take no chances. Peace

Way to go Carl. Be done before summer kicks in. I'm assuming you don't have cirrhosis. I did for 12 weeks and it seems like it may work out, but it came out after I finished cirrhotics should take for 24 weeks. My 24-week EOT labs are coming up, but it nags at the back of my head should have done 24 weeks. Anyway, congrats to you on a course soon to be finished.

Never mind what Virt said, don't try standing on you head for 3 weeks!  It is hard to eat and exercise in that position (hee hee).

Seriously, so glad you are progressing well! This 3 weeks will fly by as you are on the down hills side.  I, agree that  your decision to reduce your treatment is a good one in this case.

Good treating, good luck -- anf finish off that Dragon!!

Blessings,

Pat

That all sounds great, Carl!  One more month...you can do that standing on your head.

Wishing you well on your road to SVR.
