i was diagnosed with hepititis c today and im wondering i was haveing some problems with swollen limp noades in my armpits is that related to hepititis c
Thank you all for the comments. I have yet to see a consultant, I dread the biopsy as I have heard it is very painful, still needs must. It's the waiting that is the worse thing. I just want to get going. I think I will be using this site a lot.
Thanks again.
Thank you. My first biopsy was 3 years ago on Sept 15 and I had 0 scarring and 1 inflamation, so hopefully it hasnt proggressed.
That depends on how much scarring exists in your liver. You need a liver biopsy to determine that.
If you treat and succeed id achieving a sustained viral response, your liver will repair itself to some degree and perhaps completely. The main thing is to find a good hepatologist and get good advice.
So does that mean that if you get cured you can go back to doing normal things? Will you still have to watch what you put in your body to much caffeine tylenol, can you have a drink ocassionaly without making the virus come back?
There's a cure but like many things, it's a gamble whether you'll clear the virus. Different genotypes have different statistical chances of success. I'm among the lowest and started treatment in May with a 50% chance of succeeding but decided to do it, after thinking about it for fourteen years. I'm glad I waited because the current treatment seems better to me now than it was then, and there is more help with side effects.
You have to weigh your particular situation in deciding to treat now or wait for better and shorter therapies. The treatment requires commitment.
In my opinion, one of the best things you can do to help you make a decision is to have a liver biopsy. This may sound like a very intrusive and risky procedure but for most people, it's easy. The results will give you vital information. If your liver is healthy, you have time on your side. (Many, if not most, people with HCV die with the disease and not from it.) If not, you'll want to look very closely at your best option.
It was awful for me when I was diagnosed, since nobody, not even my family doctor seemed to know much about it. You've done yourself a real service by heading here right after diagnosis. I headed to my room and thought my life was over. That was fourteen years ago and I've been healthy and very active the entire time.
Interferon and ribavrin.
Yes I did treatment and have been cured for almost two years.
It's a long road and not always easy but it is doable and you can indeed be cured and get rid of the virus for good.
