Cyst on Spleen

I have a large Cyst on my Spleen.  In the past 13 months it has grown from 4cm to approx 9cm.  Proportionately, that would be from the size of a small tangerine to larger than a pop/soda can.  Through a series of ultrasounds and a catscan, it has been identified as totally filled with fluid, septated (divided into chambers) and benign.

At first two doctors told me your spleen must come out.  They told it should not be drained or punctured in anyway as it could cause internal bleeded.  

The third and final opinion was the Chief of Surgery at my hostipal who would be performing the operation.  He said, leave it!  He told me it will not continue to grow and burst like a water baloon.  He then continued to say, that if it leaks or breaks, it is not dangerous....possibly painful by not lethal.

These are contradictory opinions.  Who is right?

That's a cute name.

If I was you, I'd go with the Chief on this one and wait and see. If he's right, maybe it will resolve on it's own. If it gets worse, you can reaccess it. I'd stick with the doctor who advises the path of least resistance and not cut anything unless or until your situation becomes one where the Chief thinks you need surgery. I'd monitor carefully in the mean time.
