I did not take the biopsi, I tell the doctor that i did not want to take the biobsi. Then the doctor just scanned the liver (6.4) before treatment start.
Oslo, Norway.
My MRI showed liver fat. I found the biopsy pretty easy, though I started just as terrified as everyone else. NPO (no food or drink before). The only nuisance was that I had to have someone come pick me up since I used a little sedation to keep from being too freaked out. Husband picked me up (though I was stone sober) and they said I could just go back to work. I went home anyway, since I had already taken the day off. Next time I will walk from my nearby office and take a taxi back to work afterwards. No big deal.
vic, they give you a numbing shot in the skin under your ribs and that hurts like any shot would. No feeling in the liver. You feel them moving around to get the best sample but that should not hurt, since you're numbed. They put on a bandaid and just a little red mark is there when you take it off later. You'll feel sheepish later for worrying so much and mostly just glad that it's over.
do those biopsy hurt? really i don't know just starting this.
The biopsy caused me absolutely no pain whatsoever. It's like getting a needle and you just hear click click. Then they monitor you for a few hours and you pretty much can watch tv or go to sleep then go home. It was painless and easy and the only real problem was believing everybody that told me that it would be like that.........the anxiety almost killed me.
There would have been no reason I couldn't have gone back to work the next day but I got it done on a Friday (again I just didn't believe it was going to be so easy!)
Thank you and were you able to return to work the next day and did you fast prior?
I imagine so but wanted to know and did it hurt afterwards? What was your blood ana report like? Was it a slight rise in levels or more than slight?
What about the flur virus' out too now also?
All these questions, goodness. Nice to hear other opinions though. R
ok and yes mine was done on an opt, procedure, but they didnt do a ct,they did US,then endoscopey, then a bx. i do hope everything comes back good for you!!!rockin516
YES, SINCE I WENT FOR BLOODWORK TODAY, THEY DO WANT TO DO THE CT SCAN FIRST AND THEN HE'LL ADVISE. THE LEVELS WERE SLIGHTLY HIGH 3 YRS AGO SO WE'LL SEE WHAT ALL THE BLOODWORK COMES BACK BY EARLY NEXT WEEK AND THEN WE'LL GET THE APPT. FOR GETTING THE CT SCAN DONE ON THE PELVIC AND THE STOMACH AREAS. STILL HOPING THAT BIOPSY IS NOT NECESSARY. WOULD IT BE DONE AS AN OUTPATIENT DO YOU KNOW?
please do get the bx. it does show what they need to know. but did they also r/o uti?for the right flank pain. so do they want to do the bx. before the ct? rockin516
