Day 2 of Gilead HCV all-oral study

Hi everyone.  I'm a GT 1a, diagnosed almost 2 years ago.  I had some difficulty finding a study since some of my PCR tests couldn't ID my geno but I finally got lucky and am on Day 2 of the Gilead study for all-orals.  It's Protease and Polymerase and Riba.  24 weeks.  So far so good.  Expectations are high for this study, and I'm hopeful.  Side effects are varied so far.  I dose twice a day.  Yesterday during the day I had some sides...nausea, sore eyes, clammy feeling, dry throat, mucus, stuffy nose/head, general feeling of being a bit off center.  That said, none of those were worse than a 1 or 2 on a 10 scale so it really wasn't that big a deal.  Last night I dosed with dinner and was perfectly fine.  This morning I dosed again and have some of the similar sides from yesterday.  My regimen includes one additional drug in the morning, not at night so maybe that's it.  I also volunteered for a PK study so yesterday on day 1 they took a ton of blood and I was pretty drained.  All in all, I'm feelign good and wouldn't say the sides are slowing me down at all.  Wish me luck.  Good luck to everyone else!

Adamben had a breakthrough on the all orals between wk 6-8 and was put in the rescue arm which added interferon.

Ditto on ending the interferon,
I did very well with Gilead PI's and SOC,, 4 months post tx on Nov. 11 and this lab will show my VL, they do not take VL every draw after treatment.
good luck.

Great news, keep us posted on how you are.  I have a friend that I have been talking to about treating.  He wont even consider treating with interferon at this time.

Thanks again for all the good wishes.  It's great to know that so many people are being cured (yes, I consider SVR a cure)!

Good to hear things are going well for you so far!  Interesting study you are in, wish you the best.  I am also in a Gilead study in Miami, I am taking (hopefully) Tegobuvir, 9451 and SOC.  I was not UND by week 4, but my VL was 20 at 5.5 weeks and I am sure I am UND now.   I am in week 7 and my sides have not been that bad at all, a little fatigue at the beginning, but my body seems to have gotten used to the drugs and I feel ok most days.

You are so lucky to eliminate interferon, keep us updated on your progress!

Anyone know of a similar all oral study for Los Angeles, California??  The closest I see on that link is Anaheim, which is way too far.

Good luck adamben!  This is promising news.

I'll be sure to post out here as things progress.  I'm actually going through GI of GA in Marietta.  They seemed to get more studies than Emory.

I just saw you are in Atlanta too. Are you at Emory or ATL Gastros?  I'm at Emory.

Mine has the Tegobuvir too so that must be a pretty sure thing from them. I also have GS 9256. I've had some sides- worst has been the rash but I've got to say that since we've got that under control, I am actually doing pretty well. I'm going to check out your study. Keep us up to date on how you are doing

Hi Debra.  Awesome news on your UND so far!  Good luck.  My trial includes GS-5885, Tegobuvir, GS-9451, and ribavirin.  You can take a look at http://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT01353248?term=gilead+hcv&recr=Open&rank=3.

Hey Adam:
I'm curious what PI's they are- do either of the study drugs have names or just numbers?I'm in my 18th week of a Gilead trial- SOC plus one, two or no study drugs- it's a three arm blind study ( I'm starting to feel three-armed and blinded at this point too). Anyway, let us know. I'd really like to know more about the study. BTW, my results have been very good and I've been und for about 14 weeks.  My treatment will be for 24 weeks. Without inf would be such a blessing to so many.

Hi Adam-
Good luck with the tx. It will be wonderful if this works for you without the interferon. Please keep us informed about how it's going for you.
Glad they finally straightened out the genotype identification issue.
We are rooting for you!
