Denial is Over

Denial is Over

Well I just got back from the doctor and my 15% chance of having cleared on my own is now 0%. But the good news is I am genotype 3b and my vl is only 166,000. The office is going to call me next week to set up treatment. When I checked in my blood pressure was 190/90 and my pulse was 105. The nurse told me I needed to just calm down. So it looks like I am here to stay with ya'll.

so sorry to hear your news but at least now the hand wringing is over and the work can begin.
you have an excellent chance with  3b of tx working so just relax.

One sort of has to look at things like this as an adventure to not get bogged down with worry. Keep positive......and see if yu can  get Alinia on board as well as SOC...but even if not you  have a great shot  at SVR.  Eat your Riba with a fatty, but low fiber meal for best absorption and take no antacids, peptobismal or proton pump inhibitors if you can help it as these interfere with absorption.
Staying on a low iron AND low protein diet will also improve your chances.

You do need to chill out. Easier said than done I know.
Once you get going you will feel  better emotionally.

I agree, the lead up to diagnosis, and then again to beginning treatment can be brutal...
once tx begins the anxiety of the lead up tends to subside, but because many read so many  descriptions in here they can easily have high anxiety.

It may help her to remember that not as many who breeze through treatment come in here to describe their  easy time of it.
It tends to be those with serious issues, perhaps sicker and/or unable to work, who have time for such descriptions and hence this forum is far from a balanced cross section of what people in general may experience.
A lot depends on a persons general state of health to begin with.
Take care Paula...you should do fine. and no  3a is not much different. Type 3 and 4 are easier to  treat and odds go to 80-90% success depending on which studies you read... unlike type 1's which most American are and which only has a 50% succes rate.
So you are already way ahead of the game....and you have a low VL...so you may have suffered little  to no damage yet...and treatment in early VL is predictive of a better rate of success treating.
so lots of stuff in your favor!!
