Dental Work While on Treatment?

I'm getting crowns put on my top front teeth tomorrow morning.  One of the warnings for interferon says to check with our doctors before getting dental work done.  I have a call into him, but wondered if anyone here had bad experiences with dental work while on treatment?  I'm assuming it's because we don't heal as fast, etc.

Good question, I'm starting tx on Friday and I'm having the prep work for a root canal the following Thursday, I didn't think about dental work being a problem, I think it will be ok, but???  I'll check with my doctor and let you know what he says.

If your Platelets and WBC are low you may want to check with your Dr.
I had a tooth cleaning done about 2 months ago and still have open sores in my mouth because my WBC count is so low and I do not have the immune system to fight the bacteria.

        Just a thought.

I've had my teeth cleaned several times since being on treatment and no problem.  I did, however, inform both the dentist and the hygenist that I had Hep C and was on treatment.  I wanted to give them the option of not treating me if they were nervous about it.  Both of them were perfectly happy to complete my dental work and were not phased at all that I had Hep C.  Go ahead and make sure your dentist knows you have Hep C, simply as a courtesy to him/her.  If they don't want to treat you, then you don't want them as your dentist anyway.
