Diabetes and Hep C

I finally had my first appointment with the dietician at my PCP office, since finding out I am diabetic.   With the sx of treatment and what I feel like I can eat, its hard to eat right.  She says she is not going to put me on a special diet or anything like that, but asks that I eat for my bloodtype.

I am A , and man all the things I crave are on the avoid list.  I need help staying healthy.  I have dropped 20 lbs so far, and this is week 4.  Not that that would hurt me at this point, as weight has been a problem since post tx 13 years ago.  I dropped 75 lbs, down to 85 during treatment, and they put me on a high calorie diet, and have struggled with my weight since then.  I guess thats where the diabetes came from ?

Anyone else that has diabetes, how do you manage your sugar or eat healthy ?  My fiance is same blood type, so following the same regiment for eating our blood type is great.   but he hates vegetables.  So cooking is always fun.. LOL

Not sure what you mean by eating for your blood type, never heard that one before. have you already treated for hep c and cleared, that is what it sounds like in your post?
Are you on any medications for diabetes? Are you a type 2 diabetic. If this is caused by your old eating habits and weight it sounds like you can deal with this with  proper diet. I bet you know what that means, not that it is always easy but you know. If not there are a million books and many web sites that can point you in the right direction.

There is some belief that hep c can cause diabetes which I believe is what my case is. since I have no family history and am not over weight.

There is a book by a Dr Adimico that (sp) that says to eat your blood type , will help with weight loss, and get diabetes in check.  Yes Type 2 diabetes.   I am currently on my 2nd go round for treatment.  first time was 13 years ago.  I am on shot 4, am genotype 1a, and stages 2/3 from Bx.

But alot of time I do not feel like eating but its important that I do with the diabetes.  I just have no appetite for the things that are good for me.  I cut out the sugar in Sept when I found out about the diabetes, and cut portions, and am losing weight, am just concerned of the eating habbits while on tx, and how it will effect my diabetes.

Then you may want to go to this web site http://clinicaltrials.gov/ct/gui/show/NCT00189163.

It seems that there is a connection between effectively treating for hep c and daibetes.
I wish I read about this before starting treatment the first time.

What are your blood sugars running at.
