Let me quote from a journal you apparently wrote earlier today:
“I tried to give blood in 7/05 and it came back positive, so went and got test done for Hep-C and the antibody came back reactive, so had another blood work-up 10/05 HCV RNA came back OK.
I am still not sure what this means, I have a lot of symptoms of it.”
If this is accurate, it tells us that at one point you were exposed to and infected with the HCV virus. You have most probably cleared the virus during the acute stage; the important info here is that the “HCV RNA came back OK”. While you will most probably carry the antibodies for life, the HCV RNA signifies the active virus.
Approximately 20% of patients that contract the virus will clear it via their own immune system. Congratulations; you should follow up with your own doctor if you still feel poorly informed, but he will probably tell you that there is no further action needed on your part. If you have symptoms of HCV, I would personally look elsewhere for cause.
Take care—
Bill
Did you have a hepatitis panel done? What did your test say? Did you test positive for the antibodies? Have you had a HCV RNA PCR to confirm if the virus is active? Your question is too vague to answer at this point.
