Does Provigil help with Fatigue During Treatment?

Other than the anemia treatment drugs, I haven't come across anything that seems to help combat the fatigue arising from treatment meds (I'll be taking Incivek (Telaprevir), Ribavirin, and Interferon.

I've been wondering about the benefits of a drug that someone I know takes for a sleep disorder. It's Provigil (also called Modafinil, and Modalert; some others in same category: Alertec, Modavigil, Modiodal, Modafinilo, Carim, Vigia).

Has anyone tried this?

I was given an Rx  for Nuvigil (Armodafinil) to help combat fatigue on tx. Some people have had good results with it. For me, it only helped to me to "enjoy" the fatigue for more hours in the day. :-D Even half doses VERY early in the morning had the same effect. So in my case, I turned to a nightly sleep aid to get a more restful sleep and sneaked in a nap at lunchtime (my boss was great). Also, my insurance wouldn't cover it and it is fairly expensive, but my Dr. gave me samples to try out.

Unfortunately, fatigue is pretty much part of the deal with tx - almost across the board. Remember to drink plenty of fluids - this cannot be overemphasized - and try to exercise in some form each day, preferably outdoors when possible. Good for the body and mind.... Best of luck to ya!  Pam

I think Pam nailed it.  Focus on getting a good night's rest.  If I have a busy day planned, this is critical.  I fortunately don't have any problems with sleeping, some people do.  Since I do drink plenty of water, I often get up once/night for a pit stop, but no problem falling back under.

Unfortunately, the abundance of sudden rainfall in Florida has impacted my cycling time some, but if I don't get some excercise, it makes a dfference in how I feel.  This week I'm a little grumpier than usual because of it. ;)

Best of luck.  Don't worry too much.
