Does anyone know anything about CTS-1027?

I've been asked to participant in Phase II study and trying to get more information about the drug.  The trial information says it is a Matrix metalloproteinase(MMP) inhibitor. Decreased MMP activity will result in less liver injury.  I don't mind being a lab rat for the cause but if there are many side effects I don't want to chance it, since it's not a cure. It will be a maintance drug for HepC standard of care failures like myself.  I had really bad and permenant side effects from SOC so I'm a little fearful. Any advice?

The side effects or potential side effects of this drug are not yet known.
It is only just recruiting for Phase 2 and the Phase 1 will have been dosed for short periods only.
It appears to be a novel and legitimate treatment.
You would be monitored closely for adverse effects.
I see from your profile that you are aged sixty which can be when disease progression accelerates.
What stage fibrosis do you have?
If it is fairly advanced I would consider going on the trial..

I'm stage 2 grade 1, last biopsy 5/08 only six months ago

New treatment regimes are SOC based so if you can't tolerate that the trial could be an option-you can always stop if you don't like it.
I don't know if they intend this drug to  be taken for long periods if and when it is approved although the term 'maintainance' suggests that they do.
They will run the trial and collate the results so you you will be taken off it after a fixed period anyway.
Can't really advise you other than to say go with your instincts.
