Double Vision

I'm post transplant and recently visited my dentist. Before the appointment I took 2 grams of Amoxicillin as prescribed. I had an impact tooth which the dentist treated with a laser machine to kill the infection.

After the appointment, while driving home I experienced double vision. In 5 days it has not subsided. I have to wear an eye patch. My physician scheduled me for an MRI of my head. I hope its not cancer.

Has anyone else experienced double vision? How do I recover from it. I'm trying an eye patch. hat seems to deal with the immediate symptoms of loss of balance and headaches. How long should I expect this to to clear on its own?

I did have double vision - diplopia - but it was associated with head trauma from a wreck. I am just guessing here but it seems to me that your problem is related to either the Amoxicillin and/or the laser surgery. It doesn't sound right but it is awfully coincidental that your symptoms presented immediately after your appointment. Mine resolved in a couple of months after daily visual exercise. I had nystagmus which is involuntary eye movement and benign positional vertigo so my situation is somewhat different. But, perhaps you can have someone look at your eyes to check and see if you have involuntary eye movement - it's not hard to detect. This is an area I am not real familiar with so excuse me if I sound vague and not well informed. Good luck, Mike

I also am not a big fan of coincidences. Among other things, have your doc look closely at the dental anesthesia used. In fact, I'd call the dentist first thing Monday and find out the name and dose of the anethesia to present to your physician. I'd also tell the dentist exactly what occured, as he may have some insight as well. And since doctors and dentists are sometimes a bit lazy when it comes to research, you then might want to 'google' the name of the anethesia along with "double vision", "blurred vision", "eye problems" , etc.

I don't, just a blurry eye, but my PA keeps asking if I do have deouble vision every time I speak with her.  That sounds like a red flag.  Get it checked ASAP.
