I came across this. This particular one wednesday May 2006 (Hiv and also Hep c) I only listened to 18 minutes of it but I think it will be of interest to some of you guys. He touched on fatty liver, fibroscan, fibrosure blood test and more. I'm beat so I am going to bed, but wanted to post this incase anyone wants to listen to it. I'm definitely going to listen to it in its entirety tomorrow. One of the things of interest he mentioned was a bx that he did on a guy showed he had too much vitamin A that he was taking and so he had the guy wait a year before tx.:) Interesting.....

Thanks for the link. I listened to it. He's a very engaging speaker. He emphasizes the importance of fatty liver in these hepatic infections. He encourages treatment of glucose insenstitivity with appropriate agents, and praises the fibroscan (but pans fibrosure). He stresses the importance of treating all Hep B infections, and calls the recent increase in HepC among gay men a STD. Lots of other pearls of wisdon (although the sound quality is not great). Worth a listen for your general education, although it doesn't touch much on Hep C treatment.

You're welcome Mark. I found it interesting myself. I haven't had time yet to listen to the entire audio yet. Yeah the fatty liver facts and how drinking causes fatty liver too. I didn't know that, not that I drink anyhow.

After what he said about the vitamin A and making the guy wait a year to tx, I just scheduled a bx -cause I take high dose of vitamin D which I was always concerned about cause its 'fat soluable" same as vitamin A, but my PCP wants me on that dose. I cut back to 2,000 but I still want to get a bx just to rule out that that is not why I relapsed. I might go ahead with tx because my doc (you know who) said that the new meds are not for geno 2. Lots of decisions again.

Wish you the best with SVR!!
