I received that e-mail yesterday and saw the slide show  from  CME and was amazed too.  Everyone here should read it and take the slide show.

Pretty cool, huh -- especially for those of us in small communities that don't have hepatologists and don't have access to any kind of orientation classes like they do in the big cities.

ha ha - here we are, all three of us - algernon, beagle and me - all post tx - all still hopelessly hooked on all this hep C stuff.  One thing about it (being post tx) - I just couldn't absorb studies and such when I was deep in tx and anemic and it is easier to understand now.

Hi, I hope one of you can answer a question for me. I am starting tx in oct. I had a Dr's appt for 9/19. Yesterday the office called and had to reschedule till 10/3. My start week. I called the office back this morning to start process (blood work etc). They will have  the script for blood work this week and far as the peg/copeg she said it would only take 48hrs once they ordered it for me. Does this sound right to you? I asked her twice and she said yes. I thought it takes at least 2 weeks by the time you work everything out with the insuranc co.

I had just watched that before I started reading here. It was good I also copied and pasted some of the info cause there was a lot about cirrhosis in there. I am glad I watched it. Very interesting. Take care, Debi

I got as far as slide 25 this morning before work.  It is amazing and I think everyone here should take this "short course."  I am so glad you provided the link - I was going to.  I guess Mikesimon first gave a link to this particular sight and now I get emails on my personal computer when a new study/cle class on Hep C is posted.  It is a great sight.

THis course gives a good history of Hep C and explains the difference between the PCR and the TMA test, among other things.  I can't wait to see the rest of it hopefully tonight.

Hope you are well and enjoying post tx life.  Teaching this fall?  Enjoy

I would recommend you take a look at this presentation.  There is some very basic and sound information about cryo in there.  Maybe this will help convince your doctors that cryo is more serious than they may think.

Friole-- Your right can read and take in more info since off tx.  With my HGB at 6.1 -8.0 I had seious problems understanding things.  I save the site too.

Merlino -- Your dr might deal with your ins co often, so approveal might be quick.

I downloaded the deck after getting email yesterday and found it so good that I'm looking to see if local HCV support group might be interested in seeing it at next month's meeting.

Thanks so much for posting this link.  It explained so much to me that I did not understand.  I get so confused, on or off tx, and this helped clear things up a bit.

Thank you again!

I think what they are telling you is that the pharmacy does not keep these meds on hand, but once the script is geven to them, it will only take 48 hours to fill.

The meds are standard treatment for tx for C and I would not think it would take 2 weeks for insurance clearance  but I guess it depends on the policy.  My doc ordered them on Wednesday, I picked them up Friday after work and did my first shot that night.

Thanks - now that the time is so close I'm getting a little anxious.  I just want to get that first shot over with. The not knowing what will happen is the worst!!!!!
