Drugs versus Herbal Remedies

Does anyone know if there has been clinical proof that herbal remedies have knocked out the Hepatitus C Virus?
I am not big on drugs. I believe my results aren't too bad;
Viral Load 1.09 million  and Genotype 2B

I have been taking Milk Thistle Artichoke Extract and my ALT and AST levels have gone done by 50 units in 6 weeks.

Also; why would my GI doctor not be interested in my AST and ALT levels?  I really don't understand that one.

I agree with nygirl, from what I've researched on my own. However, if I were you, I'd continue taking the Milk Thistle. If you are a genotype 2b, you are an excellent candidate for interferon/ribiron treatment. It is the ONLY treatment that has been proven to work. Viral loads and alt/ast levels go up and down all the time. "down by 50" does not mean you are being cured.

There is NO cure for hepC except interferon and ribavirin.

Viral load really doesnt' mean anything, biopsy results are the key to decision factors. ALT and AST are important but cannot be a reliable source of what has happend in the past or how much liver damage you have.

Understand, some of the most knowledgable hepc people are here on this forum (more knowledgable than MANY doctors treating this disease today) if there was any hope whatsoever that a herbal might work....everyone here and who has come before would have tried it first.

It's just not so.
