During and after TX weight gain.

Has anyone else here gained weight instead of lost it? I was kind of hoping I might lose some at least that would be one plus to going through the TX. :)

Maybe it's the anti-depressants, that's when I really started to gain. But I certainly need them during TX. I don't think I could go thru TX without them.

At the beginning of treatment I lost around 25 lbs, bringing me down to around 130.  In the year and a half after the beginning of 48 week treatment I got up to about 210 lbs.  This has been a real struggle for me.  I definitely blame all of the depression meds I have been on along with all of the side effects that have kept me sore, fatigued and sleepless.  I am now off ALL meds and have some energy back.  I currently weigh 180 lbs and February was my 1 year anniversary.

I lost 5.5 and 6.5 the first 2 weeks on tx....then got back my appetite and gained back about 7 pounds. I'm still nauseaus and don't eat much these days, but I am craving strange foods for me...mostly carbs and red meat.
I am not overeating at all...but I'm not eating the veggies that I was before...I have lost all taste for them...
Can't figure this out, but I'm not really losing anymore. I usually go a few days not eating much, then get hungry for a day. I, like you, was hoping to at least drop some weight while taking these drugs...lol

In other words I'm still down a few pounds, but not losing like I did in the beginning...kinda maintaining my weight...

I was going to ask the dr for AD today, but not sure if I want to gain any weight...and all the reading I've done this morning says weight gain is associated with AD...

Anybody have any views on that, or what's a good AD that doesn't promote weight gain???

Just wondering!

Thanks
Donna

I gained 5 pounds so far during treatment. I am a couch potatoe now and don't get around much, no walks, no riding my bike, and I figure this is why I have gained not lost weight. Also I treat myself with the food I fancy, being somewhat nauseous at times, and happy just to be able to eat.

Lost 20 in the beginning (due to my thyroid, didn't have it to lose) and then after 72 weeks of eating medicine tasting laced food...gainned 30 pounds in two months.

So I'm plus ten (which I had to admit looks much better than the pre-tx skeletal look I had) and getting used to it.

Remember to keep an eye on the thyroid. You could go hypo you know and once i switched from hyper to hypo........oh la la what a difference!

I gained 10 lbs originally (could have been holidays) but have since lost it, back in the garden probably. My point is no weight loss, and no AD's either (week 32).
