For 24 week Tx when is the best time to do the 24 week PCR, one day after EOT?

Sometimes an EOT PCR is done.   Many people have them also done at 4 wks, 12 wks, and 24 wks post EOT.  Some people choose to wait until 24 wks before being tested again.

Being UND at 4 and 12 wks post tx have a high correlation with SVR.  Most folks who relapse do so in the first month after tx.  To my understanding, being UND at 24 wks post tx = SVR.

Best wishes to you, maybe someone else will come along and chime in.  Here's hoping you SVR!!!!

I don't see the value, in all cases, of an end of treatment pcr.  The information it gives is whether there has been a viral breakthrough in the waning weeks of treatment.  You are apparently Geno 2 or 3.  If you have been pcr tested through treatment and have been virus undetected most of the way through treatment, I don't see what you would gain.  However, a pcr 4 weeks after the end of meds is a good way to get a preview of your likely ultimate results.

If you are still UN at week 4 EOT...you pretty much have it in the bag.

I’m with FlGuy on this. While I can see EOT testing in a research setting, I’m not sure there’s much need for it in clinical practice. I treated with a large research and transplant clinic and they didn’t order any testing at end of treatment.

Good luck with your results—

Bill
