Encephalopathy??

I need a lot of information about encephalopathy?  Can anyone help me on this one.  My brother has Hep C and Cirrhosis and needs the imformation to pass on to a Probation Officer to help her understand his situation better.  Thanks!

Hello,  The problem he will have is a severe case of  amonia (ammonia) buildup if he is removed from this. The most common drug used is Lactulose which works on the amonia (ammonia) level. ENCEOHALOPATHY is a very trickey thing to monitor. He will more than likely become confused and your normal daily functions will alter.It creates a problem as it is used for constipation also which will keep him busy in the 'privy' no fun there.He will have to watch his fatigue and reflexes as they tend to worsen. Tell him to stay away from toxins in the(food and drinks) and to eat plenty of fruit and more than he thinks possible"WATER" as much as possible. I have ESLD/ pretty far advanced a this is a very deadly disease if not corrected ASAP. Make sure he has a hep A & B shot to start but there is NO CURE  for 'C'. if it is too far along, just ways to slow down effects unless you catch it in time . High AMONIA (ammonia) levels will cause death/coma.
