Enlarged Liver

Hi,  I was taken to the hospital by my husband as I could not keep anything down due to severe pain on my lower left side, the pain was kind of like when you get a stich from walking or running too fast...anyway the doctor at the hospital examined me, thought it was kidney stones, but blood work and urine came back fine, had a ct scan the next day and thats when I found out I have an enlarged liver 20cm in the mid calicular plane??? anyway asked whats that about they said go to your family doctor and have an ultra sound done, What causes the enlargement and what do they do for this people are saying its heart related or possible lukemia??? very worried.

this could be from many different things. i personally would see a liver specialist (hepatologist). if that is all the CT showed then that is reassuring.  try and relax until you get more tests.

The midclavicular plane is a point of reference,  not a flying machine in your body.  If you haven't yet, see a gasto or internal doc.  By the way, the liver is located more on your right side, not the left. Who are the ' people are saying its heart related or possible lukemia' ?

Indeed your liver is on your right side and doesn't have any nerves in it that would cause you to feel pain from it.

It sounds like you need a specialist. None of us here are doctors we are only patients.
