Everything in 3's

I have just been cleared for my one year test (HCV).  Hope it's over.  I have graves desease and a bad acid reflux problem too (Hyperthyroidism), which was real tough when I did the 48 week treatment of inerferon. I lost alot of weight and my body almost gave up.  But I seemed to handled them both ok.  My problem now is that my twin has been diagnosed with diabetes (mom and grand dad have it too)  I'm getting tested on Monday.  Has anyone ever gone through this? What can I expect?  My doc said that there is a good probability that I've got it too.  If I relapse with HCV because of the diabetes and graves I dont think I could get through treatment this time.  I'm worried that my body will get weak if I start treatment for diabetes.  I don't want to risk having a relapse for HCV because my immune system goes down.  I guess I am asking if there is a possibility of relapsing?

We could stage sit-ins like back in the 70's if we had the energy...I remember marching in Chicago when I was 12 years old against racism (remember the 'Chicago 7'?) ...I marched against the Viet Nam war (not the warriors, the war)...I marched in NYC this last August for HCV awareness along with other members here...I will lay down in front of the Health Dept and be carted away by 'da Pigs' if others will join me...I don't mind...it's fun...

Good morning Hard rocker,
Yes I use Nac at 600 mg. a day.Rocker this is a good anti-oxidant,not a cure but a good suppliment to booste the glutithione levels in the liver. They use it in clinics and hospitals as a anti-dote for tylenole overdose, so it's proven to help the liver break down toxins from medication and dailey exposure and get rid of them thru wastes.

How is shot 5 treating you today? I feel good today and my wife had a clean bill of health from her PCP. yesterday, so things are better today! Hope your well today!

I just read your post.  Both have a little different view; but in the end it was the same out come. Awareness.  And, yes it is fear that scares.  And, cquest, you did make that sound fun.  People will follow you, when you speak out; I think you will be able to get hugh crowds to gather.

#6 last night; so far okay, but it is only 6:30 am.

BEAGLE:  Good Luck with shot #6; Hope it is side FREEEEEEEEE.

Thanks everyone.  It's good to that SVR is here to stay.  At least 99% chance of it.  I will battle my other problems one day at a time.  I'm a little reluctant to give up the chocolate and my sugar in the coffee.

Sorry the other thread is closed and I want to answer you.

Companies are not allowed to send out "secret, confidential" emails discussing your disease and guessing about things. See below.

  DISCRIMINATION.

At no time had I ever faltered in my work...but they had already decided that because I had HEP B (that is what they said which was NOT even CORRECT - my boss did inform them it was C) and on "chemo" which was "extremely debilitating" I would need to take FMLA and what they said they should do was "hire someone else and give her busy work until she was too sick to work and would leave".

Of course...as you know with hepC it might be a drag to work but you surely CAN and do it just as well as before (but I have a desk job so it's not impossible)

So their suppositions were completely discriminatory against me with a disease.

PS REMINDER - A COMPANY HAS TO HOLD YOU 'A' JOB NOT 'YOUR' JOB if you go out on FMLA type disability things. There is NO guarantee when you come back that they won't stick you in some stupid mundane job shuffling papers and then six months later say "this position is being done away with".  You DONT necessarily get back YOUR position like most people errantly think.

There is not really a treatment for diabeties. There are drugs to help keep your blood sugar levels in check. Mostly it is up to you. Diet and exercise is the key.

I got diabetes as a result of a liver transplant in June 2000. I treated with TX for 3.5 years 1) with regular interferon and ribavirirn 48 weeks 2)Peg-Intron  and ribavirin 52 weeks and 3)Pegasys and ribavirin for 73 weeks. I reached SVR the last time around and stopped TX June 2004. I used insulin throughout the TX and controlled my diabetes tightly. If you are clear 1 year post TX you should be fine and the treatment of diabetes should pose no risk. Graves I am not prpared to discuss but the diabetes should not be a problem as far as your SVR goes. Mike
