Exposed to hep c for three years.

To: anyone who can answer
I have been married for three years to a lady with end stage liver disease and hep c.  I guess I've had my head in the sand,  but have mainly been trying to care for her all this time. We have enjoyed healthy , tho unprotected sex for three years, and now I have come to find out about her having  hep c and its being communicable. What should I expect, and do you think I now am probably going to test positive for this. If so, what should I do?
worried now , jerry

studies have been done with married couples together for many years.
one has it, the other doesnt. its rarely transmitted that way.
they say its 1  to 3% chance i think, something low.
google it, read about it.
just test once every year or so.

Sexual transmission of hep c is rare, even more so female to male.

Do I believe you should test?  yes, but only for peace of mind.  Do I belive you will test neg?  Yes.  because sexual transmission of hep c is rare.

Call 'request a test' at 1888-732-2348 to schedule.  Do it asap to put your mind at ease.

Thank you for the responces, and for giving me some peace of mind,  I can remember a few times when I may have come into contact with her blood,  I will test and soon.  I somehow had the idea that it could be passed thru sexual contact. Thanks again, jerry

I have  had hep b  for over 20 yrears now , the tell me thats gone  but my hep c is still  here I  have never ( I no dumb) had treatment for this, my boyfriend is straight never got high doesn't take an aspirin , we have lived together for maybe 16 years he has still tested negetive, listen get tested I insisted  we  use a condom he didn't want to
I make him get tested often , this is still not good I would not reccommend unprotected sex  because there is always a chance.
I am  very careful about blood  if I get a cut or something like that I throw what I used away , and sterilize everything I can .
So yes get tested for your own sanity its better to know then not know

Just for your peace of mind go get tested, but HCV isn't considered a STD. My hubby has had it our whole married life (almost 32 years) and before...and I haven't contracted it). I have shaved with his razors and even used his toothbrush (both no-nos). I don't have it, the 5 kids we have together don't. I never worried for one second that any of us had it. It's just that hard to get.
Do get tested, but don't waste a minute worrying. 'K?
Liz
