Extra Ribaviran

Thank you, all. I just finished tx, had my first post tx appointment with my doc and he gave me the all clear to get rid of anything I still had from tx, except my Procrit, which I'll continue until it is no longer needed. I have a full bottle of Riba. (180), never opened. How can I dispose of this properly? Is there anyway I can help someone else with this entire months supply of Ribs? It seems a shame to throw it away, since the costs are outrageous!!! Please give me your suggestions. I didn't talk to my doc about this, so I need some input. Keep killin' those little critters!!! Thanx...    Pauly

If you are going to do it don't do it over a public internet board. Technically it is illegal since you are dispensing drugs without a license.

Pauly you can offer them to your treating doctor and he can give them to a needy patient in your area.  Sometimes this is a godsend for patients who are having probs getting ins to approve meds or delivery probs.  That is the legal and most beneficial way to help another treating patient.

Ditto painterlady, Pauly.  In fact, when I was to start treatment, my doctor gave me a week's supply of PegIntron and Rebetrol, so I could start right away and not wait for my first supply to come via mail.

Because of that, I donated what I had left when tx stopped.

It's one of those Random Acts of Kindness things I try to do every day.  Man, they sure make one feel good inside.  Hmmm, guess it's just the good old Golden Rule wrapped in a new name.

At any rate, RAOK once a day every day.

Yes, find a way to donate your meds but be aware that it the laws vary state to state in the US. In many states, not even health professionals can re-dispense already dispensed medications, even unopened ones. Of course, many compassionate professionals are willing to flaunt the law and give out "change in custody" meds every day, as well as clean/unused needles.

See the post from medozero, a person in Egypt who is trying to figure out how he'll obtain medications.

I know my dr wouldn't take them. When I was having problems w/ins and needed some. I talked about getting some from someone here. He didn't that was a good idea. I disagree. I know some that have done this and it has worked out fine. Perhaps CA is one of the states where dr's can't recycle, or my dr thinks there are some serial killers here on the hep board. I dont' know, but I got my meds and never needed to use the offer. It's great you are offering. I hope someone who needs them lets you know. It is a waste to throw them out. If you have to, we all have our favorite places to throw them ie; red ants, Brian Fog, etc.

Feed them to the ants.  I hear there's a colony in Florida desperately looking for a good supply.

Please don't throw them in the garbage though, as if they are found, that entire area would be contained as a no-mans zone by the HazMat team and you could be heading to Quantanamo Bay for interogation by Homeland Security.

Not to mention those environmentalists picketing your place! You might have one of those hazardous sites and your property condemned. Nah, send them to somebody! I may need them if my ins. runs out before tx ends....

research centers and hospitals accept unopened medications. Just take the label with your name off and bring it to them.  I gave mine to a major research hospital on Long Island
