Extreme Sweating

My husband had his fourth shot last night.
For the past two weeks he has been sweating in large amounts we where expecting him to feel cold but he seems to be having the opposite side effect.
He has been drinking plenty of water and is in air conditioning at home and work.
Has anyone else experienced this side?

Hi, I wish I could give you more info on this.
My sweats have mostly been chest/neck/HEAD, and they came on with tx.  They were frequent for some months, then they stopped pretty suddenly.  Recently I was off ribavirin for 17 days, still on Pegasys.  Last Thursday I started on half my Riba dose, and the sweats are back, big time.  Not many people complain about the sweats on tx, or the "hot heads" as I call them.
I used to have terrible perimenopausal sweats, and took HRT for 5 years; quit last year.  This is clearly not your case... if you are on Premarin.
I wish I could give you some leads.  It seems there ought to be some endocrine or blood test or something to help explain your night sweats, so you could do something or relax.  Is your doctor unwilling to expore any other causes?  I know what a bother the sweats are, and how much sleep they cost me.  I'll hold you in the Light, that you may get a solution.
Anyway, the HCV tx is doable, in spite of most of our complaints!

sry it took me so long to respond. My sweating is not menopausal(according to Dr.)I am post hysterectomy and take 1.25 mg. premarin daily. The reason my doc said it's from liver is because, unlike hormonal, my sweat is accompanied w/ oily skin. That was never the case when I missed meds and had night sweats. Plus this is a very different feeling. I could feel the night sweats seem to start at my knees and work themselves up and my actual body temp never changed. W/ this it raises 1.5 to 2 degrees. My doc says it is my bodies way of getting toxins out of my system that my liver can no longer (I had liver failure 1 yr. ago, w/ cirrhosis), and thats why it's oily! Does any of that make sense?

They say it is good to sweat, helps the liver rest while your sweating out impurities it's less your liver has to do- so sweat baby sweat. -- You'll all have a good and hopefully a side free, or at least a  sorta side free week. -- HD --

Thank you for taking the time to answer my question.
My husband is also taking the ad Effexor on his Sixth week of ad.Maybe that could be the cause of the sweating,it is a question I will look further into.
Thank you again.

Hi, I don't know your age, but I was rudely surprised to learn that "peri-menapausal" stuff can go on for a decade or more, and can start before 40... you might want to have your hormone level checked.  Or have I got this wrong, and you're a guy...?  MN

I know for myself, I drink about 8 or 9 8oz. glasses of water a day.  I don't sweat at all and it's been so hot.  I actually feel quite dry in my throat, mouth and on my skin.

I have the extreme sweating thing at nights, and have not started tx. yet. Could possibly be a symptom rather than a side.?

This is quite common and not anything to worry about. I sweated quite a bit in the first couple months and still do from time to time--now in week 32. Encourage him to keep up the water intake and he'll be fine. Good luck and welcome to the board.
