Fat Supplement to take with Telaprevir

Fat Supplement to take with Telaprevir

Somewhere I read about a liquid fat "supplement" that some were taking w/ their dose of telaprevir to meet the 20 gram requirement. I can't seem to find it again. does anyone know the name of this product? It's flavored, and meant to take w/ meds that need the oil for the meds to work properly.  but it also meets the 20 grams of fat req too so it knocks off 2 birds w/ one stone. Let me know.
Also interested in what others are taking for their morning - afternoon & evening dose of fat with telaprevir.
I just purchased a good whey protein powder that has 6 grams of fat in a single serving. I plan to use whole, organic milk for another 6 grams then add a bit of oil to bring it up to 20. I figure w/ a banana or some strawberry preserves it s/b ok.
Let me know what you guys are doing and if anyone knows the name of this liquid fat "supplement"

Heavy whipping cream !   Tons of fat grams.   I am thinking 2 tablespoons are 22 grams +   !    I do this alot, just drink about a 1/4 cup of heavy whipping cream and then eat a little light snack to give me substance.    Peanut butter has a ton of fat in it too.   If you can choke it down with some crackers and a little whole milk that will get your fat grams in fast and quick.    I am into fast and quick , especially when my doses are off my an hour or two and I have to take a dose at 3am.      I am really bad about staying on a schedule, but I never loose the 7-9 hour regimen, so sometimes I have a bit of variance of time.

I have been eating a 6 ounce container of Greek yougurt. The Greek yogurt has 17 gms of fat per 6 ounces. I add a couple of tablespoons of heavy whipping cream to the Greek yogurt and that adds up to over 20 grams of fat. You may have to get the Greek yogurt at a food co-op of higher end market. Be sure to look at the label and check to fat grams and DON'T get lo fat. I have also eaten peanut butter but it gives me heartburn so I don't eat much of that. Also, 2 ounces of chedder cheese will give you 20 gms of fat. Hope that helps.

I think the morning dose is going to be the toughest for me. I get up for work around 5:30 but typically can't stomach anything other than a cup of coffee until I get to work around 9 (something about work makes me want to eat!)
"Liveontheedge": Can I add this heavy cream to my coffee?
I also checked out the Cheesecake Factory pies! ONE slice of pumpkin cheesecake has around 35 grams of fat while their choc-chip cookie dough has 73!! I think I can handle that and I luv pumpkin cheesecake. 1/2 slice for lunch and dinner should do it I am fortunate in that I only weigh 100# so I can indulge but I do also fear about losing any more weight so that will help keep it on huh?
Oh and in regards to the whey protein shake - I read that whey protein is very good for your liver too so hopefully the shake will serve multiple purposes.
I have to pass some good news along: A gal, Rose, who I met on another HepC forum just got the big U.D. news after a little over 2 months on the
Telaprevir regime. She gets to stop it shortly and then just do the 2 drugs.  It's so encouraging to hear that and here I am just getting ready to start and 6 months seems like forever. But it's really just a drop in the bucket, isn't it when you think of how long some of us have probably had this little bugger of a disease.

I'm more of a mocha first, food second in the morning kind of person.  I've found I can handle 2 of the Jimmy Dean sausage biscuits in the morning.  Sometimes I have a mocha breve with my afternoon dose with the half and half providing the required fat.  Alternatives for the afternoon include peanut butter crackers, nuts, and Brown Cow yogurt with cream on top.  Ice cream or cream pie at night are my current favorites.

Getting up so early hasn't been easy for me, and then eating immediately, just makes it worse.  So I've been getting up around 7am, make a couple of organic eggs (soft boiled) with a slice of buttered toast; or whole fat greek yogurt with fruit and granola; or a toasted bagel with cream cheese... then I go back to sleep for a few hours.

I have developed some food revulsions, i.e., foods I usually love, I just can't stomach right now... the good fat stuff like avocados, almond butter, salads, nuts -- just can't get them down -- it's weird the things that I'm craving (you'd think I was pregnant...lol), like I could eat an entire can of black olives just like that!  For lunch, tho, one of the few things that seem to go down easy is Marie Callender's Chicken Pot Pie -- definitely more fat grams that I need, but it's really good and feels like comfort food, so I've been eating a lot of those.

Anyway, I'm into Week 3 on triple tx (with INC) -- Monday and Tuesday, I actually felt really good, after last week when I felt like crap all week.  So, I'll take it one day at a time, and today I felt good...:)

Take care everyone,
Karen
