Fatty liver and carbohydrates

Limit carbohydrates to reduce triglycerides in the liver

Excessive carbohydrate consumption is one of several characteristics of the American diet that contributes to abnormal lipid profiles and fatty liver disease. If your carbohydrate intake exceeds your energy needs, the excess is converted to triglycerides in your liver through a process called lipogenesis. A 2011 study in "The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition" demonstrated that carbohydrate restriction reduces your liver's storage of triglycerides--and the risk of fatty liver--more effectively than simple caloric restriction

Thanks for posting Bali. As a person with Fatty liver I need to remind myself to chill on the carbs. The most difficult part of my diet to give up though. I could live on bread and popcorn :)

Hope you are well and have stopped tx. Hoping for great results and SVR for you,
Dave

I have come across a number of people who see their triglycerides going up during and or
post tx and who have developed fatty livers.Reducing carbs might be a consideration.
Of course as always: Don`t try to fix it if it ain`t broken :-)

I`d say if you are trying to lower your triglycerides by limiting carbohydrates in your
diet it applies to all carbs.

there are good carbs ( complex ) and there are bad carbs ( simple ) as there are good fats and bad fats and good cholesterol bad cholesterol - good carbs fats and cholesterol help fight the bad ones - we need a certain amount of complex carbs good fat and good cholesterol daily - triglycerides are formed from carbos + fats - triglycerides when combined with high levels of ldl ( bad ) cholesterol are the major cause of heart and artery disease

"The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition" demonstrated that carbohydrate restriction
(not elimination of carbs) reduces your liver's storage of triglycerides.
It don`t matter if good , bad or ugly carbs when your carbohydrate intake exceeds your energy needs, the excess is converted to triglycerides in your liver through a process called lipogenesis.

Thanks for the answer.  While my triglycerides and cholesterol levels are excellent I am fascinated by the various food recommendations that come down the line and then, often get changed.
