Fatty liver?

I had a blood test last week. It came back with SGOT at 59 and SGPT at 115. I have also been diagnoised with diabetes and Metabolic Syndrome by the same test. I am dealing with the diabetes, but the thing I know least about is this SGOT/SGPT. My doctor suspect I have fatty liver, and ordered an ultrasound. I was wondering, even if it came back I have fatty liver, it still can't rule out other liver disease, can it? Do I need more tests other than this ultrasound? I noticed some people have one figure higher but not the other one, while I have both SGOT and SGPT high...what does it mean? If it is fatty liver, can it be treated/reversed, or it is another untreatable disease like diabetes? I appologize for asking so many questions, but I have just accepted my diabetes, now I got to deal with this new headache...when would it end?! Any advice/info is greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your comment. hepatitis c is strict blood to blood infection, right? If that is the case I seriously doubt I could have that. Is it possible I can have other liver disease other than fatty liver? Is there a test I can take to check it out? what does that liver ultrasound really check? You sound like you know a lot about this. I appreciate your advice in advance.

most people with hepatitis c have both liver enzymes elevated with the ALT usually twice as much as the AST. fatty liver can be reversed with low fat diet & exercise and losing weight. along with weight loss there will be improvement with the metabolic syndrom, dibeties, etc.  the fatty liver is probably what caused your diabietes. get rid of the fatty liver and good chance your diabeties will go as well. best of luck
