Fibroscan - score 30

Fibroscan - score 30

Hi all,

My partner saw the hepatologist today and they did a fibroscan and indicated 30?  How bad is that His doctor said its very early cirrohsis and now that he is SVR they are hopeful it will improve.

If I recall correctly, the early cirrhosis diagnosis was known to you when he went into treatment. There is good, good and good news about the results of the FS .  The first good is that he's SVR so there should be not be anymore damage as a result of the HCV.  The second good is that with mild or earlyy cirrhosis the liver can repair itself over time and possibly get back to factory condition.  It would be great if they did comparative FS over time - that would be cool.  The third good might not sound so good but I think that it is, and that's that you can't do anything about it except to watch it get better.

I find it interesting that he got that kind of follow-up there, it's encouraging with the recent dramatic medical news from that side of the border.

You may want to check the report again & confirm if the results are 30 kPa (kilopascals) . There should be number reference ranges on the report F1 - F4 +  or 0 -75 kPa

On my FS report there are 6 different RR (reference ranges) for 6 different afflictions .

I don't understand this part of the report & have not had anyone explain it to me to my satisfaction , including the Doc who reviewed it .. She said it was due to different disease progression rates ??

Having HCV , the cutoff for F4 - 14.5 kPa  .... the beginning of Cirrhosis

But , If for example Alcohol is the problem 22.5 kPa is the cutoff and begins F4 , which might explain the Doc saying it is the early stages of Cirrhosis ....

Hope this helps some ...

The report I have is from June, 2010  , fairly current ...

Maybe someone can chime in and tell why there are different RR's for different diseases & how that works ....  since the FS measures liver stiffness ,

BTW I know the mid range readings are not as accurate as F0-F1 & F4  , so no need to go there ...

Just looking for the data that explains the different RR's relative to different afflictions ...

Thanks

If results are truly 30 kPa this is way more then early stage cirrhosis. Best of luck
