Jeremy, try calling university and teaching hospitals as well as all the larger hospitals within a couple hours of you....they have trials in their liver departments.
also go to www.clinicaltrials.gov and do a search for hepatitis c and you'll see lots of ongoing studies.
this in another way to get the drugs free...usually the patients are given a medicine in addition to the regular meds, to see if the 3 med can help more, of allow for lowering doses of the 2 standard meds which are pretty harsh. Some studies offer standard meds to patients after the trial, if they did get the placebo or didn't SVR.
It varies from study to study, but check it out..
at the bottom of each trial description it tells you what cities and hospitals are conducting the studies.
good luck to you,
mb
For the meds themselves call:
Pegassist (Roche Pegasys system): 1-877-734-2797
Commitment to Care (Schering- Plough PEG-Intron system): 1-800-521-7157
and how's the weather on the peninsula?
Thank you for the info it's been very helpful.
each state has it's own health peograms, some of which are very helpful, some aren't, that will vary from state to state.
You need to contact your state board of health and also the manufacturers of the drugs such as Pegasus, and Ribavirin have aide programs.
you can contact them for help but I believe you will need to have gotten your diagnosis and be under doctors care and supervision even to get the free drugs.
