First Results...I think this is good

First results came back today.  Start of TX, VL = 2.2 million (it really went up, the last count I had was 662,000), 3 weeks and 6 days, VL = 97,000.  The blood drawn today will be one of the landmarks (the 4 week).  I do # 5 tonight, but I always do my blood on Thursday or Friday at lunchtime, so it's always a day short of the Peg shot. Sounds like a big drop to me!  If it doesn't keep raining and stays almost 70 degrees, maybe I'll take a 6 mile walk tomorrow!

OK, I got your drug name. It's Ritonavir, or SCH 900518.  Apparently, they want to check for "possible changes to your gallbladder or liver". That's why they do the sounds at week 4, 8 and 12, and possibly at 16 and 24 if you cross over to the study drug. If my numbers keep on this trend, my original answer stands, I will never take the Ritonavir.  If I'm NOT UND at week 12, I have the OPTION to crossover to one of the Ritonavir arms.  OK, about the coffee, what are you suggesting, I mainline it, or do a coffee enema?!!! ROFL!  I know I won't mainline it, or anything else,  that's how I got here in the first place, and as far as the other option goes, I think I could quit before that happens!  I really do like to have a cup in the morning. I'm not a morning person anyway, and it just helps me not bite people's head off first thing in the morning.

'better find out...it just may be a little bit importart?..ya think? '  Not if I'm not ever going to take it!  I'm on the straight Peg/Riba only arm, that much I'm sure of. I will never get the test drug. I had one ultrasound before starting Tx, and one last week, at 1 month.  I think they want monthly, but since I'm not on the test drug, a waste of my time and patience. I hate being hungry and not being able to have my one (big) cup of coffee in the morning.

Apparently the protease inhibitor that they are testing can cause gall stones. But, I am NOT on the test drug!  I'm not even sure what it's called. I have to check my paperwork. My coordinator is going to question that one because it really makes no sense. When I went for the last one, the technician questioned it. I said something to the effect that I didn't think gall stones just popped up in a months time like that. She said "no, they don't". And I do not pay for any of the tests, Schering Plough foots the whole bill.

Oh h3ll yeah I'd be getting the 4 week results!  :)  I used to start calling and bugging them to fax me first thing in the morning I just couldn't stand all the waiting!

I certainly would tell them to stop wasting all the money on the monthy ultrasounds what is the logic behind that?  Do you have some special condition that I missed reading (could be I"m not very observant from work trying to do both things at once!).

I hope you keep the energy level up. God knows how truly rare that is, after week 3 I was the sorriest sight you've ever seen........hope you are able to feel well the whole way through.

Oh, my God, girl...skydiving?!!!  That is one thing that I know I will never do. The other is bungee jumping. I don't have the energy to walk up the stairs to my bedroom. I have the entire 3rd floor of my house. I have been taking the elevator sometimes at work (4th floor) even though I said I would force myself to do it. I have pretty much cut out the gym and that worries me.  I go to work, go to school, and do a butt load of Accounting homework, and that is about enough. My kid eats cereal for dinner most nights or whatever else she can scare up. I am glad I have the energy to do those things and am sleeping pretty well. I was worried about having to take time off, it won't happen. Best to you, long term, too  : )

I'm not sure why she brought me in last week. I don't go back for a month now.  I just want them to stop sending me for ultrasounds every month. I either can't have my coffee in the morning or can't eat for 6 hours. The last time was the latter and I was really irritable. She said she will ask about that because the study drug can cause gall stones, but I'm not on the study drug!  In addition to being just a general pain in the backside, those ultrasounds are time consuming!  I have to drop some paperwork off and my empty Riba jar, so I'll ask her about the sensitivity of the test and of course, today's results.

Wow!  That is fantastic to hear that you've dropped that much that quickly.  It is also great to hear that you have the energy you do.  My "thing" is skydiving and I just do not have the energy for it right now.  I dearly miss it.  I took my 8th shot today.  I do mine on Fridays also in order to recover enough over the weekend to drag back into work on Monday.  Anyway, just wanted to give some encouragement.  Good luck long term.

Are they going to do blood draws every week, I've never heard of that before! Even the esteemed Dr. Jacobson only did they once a month and believe me I had to BEG for a 4 and 8 week (but it was years ago before this was popular). You're lucky!  Do you know what the sensitivity of the test was?

You ARE always supposed to do the draw the day before the shot for the most realistic results........so keep it all up!

No, it was 3 weeks and 6 days. I do my shot Friday evening, around 7pm.  I had the blood drawn last Thursday, 1 day prior to shot 4.  I think what she took today counts as the "official 4 week" because I have had 4 shots so far. I know it's a bit confusing.  I am hoping to be Quick Responder!

If I did it right, that's a 1.35 log drop which is great. I assume the blood draw was before 3 weeks 6 days, if you're doing week 4 now. Was it at 2 weeks?
