Foot pain & mild joint pain

Hey all! How is everyone? I have been done with my treatment for 6 moths now. I am still UND, my hair is growing back, and I am very happy! However, I have had a strange pain in the palls of my feet (metatarsal area). I hike a couple times a week, I don't run or so high impact sports. I also had extreme shoulder pain (an injury from working out one day). Anyway, my joints seem to ache in many places. Has anyone else experienced bone/joint pain after TX? I hope it gets better, and who knows, it may not even be related to TX. I just value your opinions. Thanks all!

I too have joint pain.  I am 5 months post tx.  I'll get it in my shoulders sometimes, in my feet, ankles, knees, wrists...all at different times of the day.  It freaked me out at first because I was expecting to be "all better."  I learned here to take Bromelain, so I've been doing that.  I've been taking glucosamine for years (since HCV was already doing a number on my joints).  I also learned here it can take up to a year for the sx to go away.  That gives me hope, that I'm not crazy after all - lol.   Keep us posted!

Hi and good to see you:)
Happy to hear you're still UND!  Sorry to hear your having post tx issues. If your feeling needles/pain on the bottom of your feet, it may be some neuropathy you're experiencing.  Good news is that your still young enough that you will most likely get better over time.  The body has a way of regenerating even at different ages, but the younger the better the chances are.
You're taking naproxen, has your doc done a screening for RA and ANA to determine if there are auto immune issues?
Have you and your boyfriend done anymore sky diving?  :))))

Best,
MagTX

You can also try glucosamine supplements.
My sister takes them. She's never done tx or has hep c but she had severe knee problems. During tx when my joints hurt I asked about taking them and the doc said it was fine. I never did because the pain went away and apparently it takes time for the glucosamine to work.

Try doing some searches and see what you come up with.

Good luck.

Thanks for your response, yeah, I've never had foot pain in my life, but I recall having had the same pain in the beginning of TX, I hope it imporves. How are you now that you've treated 2 times? And, what is an anti inflamatory diet? Thanks :)

Hey you! I am UND! Next month I will do my blood test to determine SVR! YAY! Yes, I went skydiving on TX, haha! I didn't have any of these problems previously, I finally found an over the counter psoriasis shampoo that works well, my immune system is great again, but the joint pain is no fun, especially in my feet, it's like I'm walking on needels these last couple weeks, like a bruised feeling, very strange. I just hope it gets better, I'm resting, icing, and taking naproxen since yesterday. How are you? I'm so glad you're 8 weeks post TX! :)

These foot problems are no fun! I'm 30, and this is all new to me. I hope your pain gets better, try stretching maybe :)

Hi there, I haven't tried topicals yet, it's hard because I work 2 jobs and go to school so I'm not home resting very much, I'll try that tonight though when I get to put my feet up :).... Lately, it's mostly my feet, like I'm walking on needles. It may or may not be related to TX, but it's no fun.

Sorry to hear about the joint problems.  Did you achieve SVR?

Some days I wake up with very achy joints - yesterday was one of them - but most days I am all right.  I am about 8 weeks post tx.

Didn't you sky dive on tx?

It sounds  like you developed quite a few auto immune problems post tx- psoriasis, neuopathy, arthristis.  You had none of those previously?  I agree that those can be side effects from treatment.  So what do you do now? Since you are cirrhotic, you can't ignore the hep C.  What is your suggetion?

What is an anti-inflammatory diet?

Relatively common side effect, and one that is often not linked to treatment by patient, esp. as symptoms often arise a month or more post-treatment.  "It's my shoes"  "It's the ski boots" "It's all the walking I did" etc.

I developed mild but lasting foot pain / some swollen toes in 1993 after treatment but never made the link until I treated again from 6/08 - 12/08 and had same / similar but much worse feet / ankle problems commencing about 01/09.

I even then thought it was shoes - bought two new pairs in rapid succession - only in 4/09 did I realize I had developed pretty severe and since worsening psoriatic arthritis / neuropathies etc. in feet.

I didn't do the triple tx but wanted to say hi there !

I'm six months post SOC tx and have had some problems with my arches hurting. My joints are fine.
As many friends my age have plantars fascitis, I thought it was probably something   age related or from  too much walking on concrete.

Hi, Indy here. I'm a month away from 6 month VL and hair is growing back as well. I have some sore knee joints but am attributing it to old age, not the dragon. Do topicals help?
