Found this is my newspaper yesterday.

Vertex Pharmaceuticals Inc. said its experimental hepatitis C pill eliminated signs of the virus from several patients after two weeks of treatment. All 28 patients getting VX-950 responded, and four of eight takeing 750 milligrams three times a day tested negatime for signs of the virus,lead researcher Henk Reesink, associate professor of medicine at Academic Medical Center in Amsterdam, said Tuesday.

Info. on VX-950 was broadcast on the net as a conference call on 5/17.  The archived call is available via telephone until 5pm today (5/23).  The replay phone number for the U.S. and Canada is (800) 642-1687.  The international replay number is (706) 645-9291.  The conference ID number is 6231209 for both numbers.  I listened to part of it and it sounded encouraging however if this is as promising as they hope for and it sounds, it needs to be fast-tracked for approval by the FDA as many of the drugs for HIV were.  That only came about as a result of alot of pressure from various interest groups.

yes, Amanda is one that comes to mind, also Miles and Susan400, a new weapon or better use of the existing ones is much needed

Duh! I guess I'm still a little brain dead-sorry. I really hope it comes through. It would great especially if it works for nonresponders.

Problem is it's in Phase 1 trials................a long way to go.

Sorry, it posted before I was through. The only thing that troubles me about this is the low number of people in the study. But, it's something else to hope for.
