Fox's 'House' episode on HCV

by cbee, Mar 24, 2005 12:00AM
Hi Everyone,

I too was appalled by Tuesday night's broacast of the Fox show "House."  To make a long story short, it about doctor's diagnosing and treating patients.  This particular episode (which is explained in another thread below) lead people to believe HCV is a gay disease and is spread through bodily fluids.  You would think the producers of a medical nature would do their research.  Anyway, I, like many of you, are tired of the stigma of this and going on national tv with this misinformation just put us back in the closet even farther.  I overheard people at work talking about it and many of them don't know what I'm being treated for.

So . . . how about some letter writing to the show's producers?  I think they at least owe us some kind of public service annoucment about the truth of HCV.

Here's the fax number and the address:

Sorry I cut myself off.  That address is

Fox Television
Attention:  HOUSE Producers
10201 W. Pico Blvd., 89-230
Los Angeles, CA 90035

I couldn't get the direct phone but you can call 310.369.1000 and ask to be connected to the Fox TV Show "House."  The guy there wasn't much interested in taking a message so he connected me to a voicemail of viewer comments.

So for my fellow heppers, here's a chance to use that Riba rage for a good purpose.  Let's see them make some good out of what they did.

Thanks for listening,

-cbee

Thanks so much for finding the info for us.  Yes,,,we all need to write a letter to get facts straight.

I will write too....there is enough stigma out there without t.v. giving out wrong info. My latest encounter has been with my doctors nurse. She has been treating me like I have the plague and because of her I have missed two appt's. I don't know how to handle it. Should I confront her, should I tell the doc? He is great and I like him a lot but her bedside manner leaves a sour taste in my mouth. I am a medicaid patient and have been treated poorly in the past but since being treated for hepc/cirrohis things have only gotten worse. I don't know who this woman thinks she is but I'm ready to lose my temper on her. I pray she never gets this disease and if she should I hope she's treated better than she's treated me.
May God bless all of you....

Very interesting article.  I get a little confused with all the medical stuff.  Thanks for thinking of me.  I spoke to another dr and he says I'm okay because all my other iron levels are normal except for the ferritin.  He says that can fluxuate a lot during tx.

Take care

you should talk to the doctor about the situation, let him handle it.
some nurses have left the practice of a few members here after the doctor was made aware of their behavior
good luck

Thanks for the encouragement, I too, would want to know if my staff were being rude to my patients. Now I just need to work up the courage to spill it to the Doc. I HATE confrontations but if that's what it takes I will do it. I'll let you know how it turns out.
