Freaking out with little information about Hep C

Dear Hep C forum friends -  I have a lot of questions and I am feeling very scared.
I don't have all the information yet as I am waiting for blood test results. (viral load? test)

I am 55 yrs old, female, and have been feeling very sick with chronic pain  in neck, back, and joints all over, for about 4 and 1/2 years.   Doctor said I "may" have Hep C.  I have never used needles..so I figure I must have gotten the virus from the dentist or from a sexual partner, although it seems unlikely.

Anyway.....I have insurance but I am not sure yet if my insurance will cover treatment.  I am just fairly frantic thinking about all the possibilities...and I am worried.

My doctor said that as far as he knew, the main barrier to treatment today would be lack of insurance, or for those who have "bad" insurance.

If you have any advice for me please do share it.  Thanks!   alice

If you have no obvious risk factors such as blood transfusion, tattoo, IV drugs, ect you may not have Hep C.  Yes, you can acquire it thru dentist and other avenues, you won't know for sure unless you get tested.  The aching joints could be a myriad of other illnesses and not Hep C.   As far as if you do, insurance should cover treatment.  They are now able to cure the virus so if you are positive, the new meds will eliminate Hep C with few side effects.   Please keep us posted and if so, we will steer you in the right direction for treatment.     Good luck.      Kim

First step...
get tested.

Don't worry until after you get results.
