Geno type change from 1B to 6 !! anyone has something like this?

Hi, my daughter diagnosed hep C in 2007, she has geno type 1B. They ran a bunch of test before start her treatment.  The test came back with genotype is 6 !!!  Where is the 1B go?
we gonna see her doctor in couple weeks.  Is anyone experience something like this? Is the 1B is gone or, she hase both 1B and 6 now......    Any input is appreciated...

Hello im genotype 1and have had the standard tx inf+riba this was stopped after 12 wks because there was no response ie null responder,all the first tx was done at my local hospital joint liver heptolagy unit.Now im awaiting funding from my local health authority to have 48wks tx on incevik which is devoloped by vertex and also known as telaprivir.Im waiting for telaprivir+inf+riba thats my triple therapy course.This will be done at barts hospital london under supervision from a specialist viral heptolagy unit,whilst at my first consultation at barts i was told that the telaprivir and another new drug out recently bioceprivir are only for treating type 1 hep c conditions.So you need to 100% clarify what type your daughter has and maybe source some help from a specialist viral centre,as said im sure the newer drugs out are for genotype 1 only im aware of the range of 1 to 6 but never really looked into any apart from type 1.Your daughters doctor should be redirecting you to a specialist centre who would know more id expect.All the best for the future sorry could not help much.Col.

Another thing that I did not understand from her blood test is the viral load.  When she tested in 2007, it was 3,650,000 iu/ml with geno type 1B, now it shows 8,420 iu/ml with geno type 6?????  
Does anyone know if they will treat with triple theraphy (Inf+riba+incivek) if someone has both geno 1B and 6.

Wow. I had no idea there even was a genotype 6. lol But I agree with Bill - likely a error vs. actual genotype change.

The problem is they plan to treat her 24 weeks with triple theraphy(Inf+riba+Incevik) when she has 1B.  But now her geno is 6, they want to treat her a full course of 48 weeks with (inf+riba) with no Incevik, she 's very disappointed !!!    Thanks Bill for the link.

The different genotype reporting might have been due to a glitch in sequencing; your daughter’s doctor will help determine the correct course of action if treatment is required.

Most likely they will treat her as genotype 1 if the discrepancy remains.
