Seeing bands such as the Ramones and Dead Kennedys, DOA if in Canada is an under recognised risk factor for HepC.
The Incidence of HepC among said people is far greater than in the general population.
The cause of this is unknown as all deny past drug usage.

I see you are on the Gold Coast....beautiful part of the world... My kids and I spent a week in Brisbane, and there abouts...Loved it!!
Oh I did ---- Front Row --- AWESOME concert... They laughed at me --- I sat down --- while everyone was on their feet... I just didn't want to miss them --- not a darn thing --- and standing on my feet would have taken away something... LOL!
They rock! Now and then --- which is so sad that there won't be anything new....
But --- I didn't get to share anything with them but they did give me a pick.... that my girlfriend stole... Sniffle - not my friend now... But that's cool - she must have needed it more than me.
Hugs to all.

the only parasite i have is an exhusband....well no, that's a bad joke, he's very cool.
Meki: Yep, it's true. I slept with a mummy.
Jools: Yes, a hospital setting. The health department is investigating. Unfortunately, they report acute cases to the CDC so I'll be on their rolls at some point. I'm not sure I'm real happy about that.
The prevalence of antibodies to Hepatitis C Virus (HCV) in Egypt is among the highest in the world. From the 1950s until 1982 hundreds of thousands were infected during mass campaigns to control schistosomiasis (a parasitic disease) using mass therapy with intravenous antimony compounds, but little is known about current risk factors and rates of transmission. Studies of high risk populations, such as intravenous drug users, shed little light on HCV transmission in Egypt where this high risk behavior is rare.
The HCV problem in Egypt in large part was created by the govt. In an effort to stem a countrywide problem they had with a parasite that resides in water, the govt. sent out the drugs to the population and advised them to administer them. People then did just that, however they were not properly instructed and they reused the needles amongst families and others and the large jump in HCV infections resulted. Apparently the parasites were remedied....
i've always wondered about that..since i'm a geno 3...did i pick this up when i was in australia???
hmmm.....deb you got yours in a hospital setting right???....maybe someone there was egyptian....=)...that could be a stretch on my part....now there was that article about the mummy...LOL...!

Ahh well someone who knew someone who knew someone --- who knew someone else... probably did....
LOL!
Hugs deb.
Meki

Approx 20%, (WOW) of the population of egypt has hcv. Man, that seems like a lot.
